A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...

Simulation of Tip-Clearance Effects in a Transonic Compressor
Tip clearance flow can have a large impact on compressor performance and is therefore important to consider in compressor design. A wide range of computational approaches can be used for modeling tip clearance flow.

This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Functionally graded metal–ceramic femoral stems are engineered through continuous UMAT‐based stiffness tailoring, eliminating discrete material interfaces while enhancing biomechanical compatibility. Low‐index power‐law gradation optimizes load transfer, reduces stress shielding, and controls implant–bone micromotion, highlighting a materials‐design ...

Modelling of the tip clearance losses in axial flow machines
Summarization: The possibility of predicting the total pressure loss radial distribution, due to the tip clearance presence, is examined in this paper. Models advanced for the diffusion of a line vortex are used for the simulation of the leakage vortex ...

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

The aerodynamic characteristics of a wing with tip clearance are studied. A theoretical investigation of wings of semi-infinite or finite span is made on the lifting-line theory. The author tried to introduce as many as possible images of the wing in order to satisfy the boundary condition at the wall facing the wing tip.
