Liquid Metal Microrobots for Magnetically Guided Transvascular Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal‐based microrobots combine magnetic steering, intrinsic X‐ray visibility and softness, to navigate blood vessels even against flow. Under clinically relevant magnetic fields, liquid metal microrobots roll along vessel walls, cross endothelial barriers, and accumulate in target tissues.

Numerical Research on the Impact of Axial Position of Endwall Suction Slot on Tip Leakage Flow

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2020
In order to reduce the adverse effect of the tip leakage flow of cantilever stator on compressor performance, the impact of the axial position of endwall streamwise suction slot on tip leakage flow was numerically studied.

Dynamic Analysis of Cavitation Tip Vortex of Pump-Jet Propeller Based on DES

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
When a pump-jet propeller rotates at high speeds, a tip vortex is usually generated in the tip clearance region. This vortex interacts with the main channel fluid flow leading to the main energy loss of the rotor system.

Numerical Study on Vortex Structures and Loss Characteristics in a Transonic Turbine with Various Squealer Tips

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Cavity width and height are two key geometric parameters of squealer tips, which could affect the control effect of squealer tips on tip leakage flow (TLF) of gas turbines.

Extinction controlled adaptive phase-mask coronagraph [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Context. Phase-mask coronagraphy is advantageous in terms of inner working angle and discovery space. It is however still plagued by drawbacks such as sensitivity to tip-tilt errors and chromatism.

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Preservation of Extracellular Vesicle Integrity and Cargo Using Spiral Microfluidic Chip‐Based Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A spiral microfluidic chip is compared with ultrafiltration for the separation of extracellular vesicles (EVs). The method preserves miRNA cargo and membrane integrity more effectively, resulting in intact vesicle morphology and consistent surface biomarker expression.

Cap‐oPMN: Oral Inflammatory Load Quantification Using Capillary Microfluidics and Automated Image Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quantifying oral polymorphonuclear neutrophils (oPMNs) is a clinically validated approach for assessing periodontal inflammation. However, current methods, such as manual hemocytometry and flow cytometry, are time‐consuming (>3 h), require invasive sampling, and depend on staining and complex instrumentation, making them unsuitable for point ...
