An Experimental Study on the Effectiveness of the Backward-Facing Step Technique on Small-Scale Horizontal-Axis Wind Turbine Rotor Blades

open access: yesEnergies
The aim of this research work was to explore how modifying the design of small-scale HAWT rotor blades through the backward-facing step technique affects their efficiency under varying wind speeds.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Aerodynamic Optimization Design of a Supersonic Compressor Rotor with High Pressure Ratio

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2021
Supersonic compressors have a high wheel speed and operational capability, which facilitate a high stage pressure ratio. However, the strong shock waves in the passage of a supersonic rotor and the interference between shock waves and boundary layers can

Discordance Between Patient and Physician Global Assessments in Early Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aims to identify factors associated with patient global assessment (PtGA) and physician global assessment (PhGA) and discordance between them in systemic sclerosis (SSc). Methods Data from adults with early SSc (<5 years) from the Collaborative National Quality and Efficacy Registry were included.

Influence of design parameters on the performance of slotted Savonius hydrokinetic turbine

open access: yesResults in Engineering
The main objective of this study is to optimize the performance of slotted Savonius hydrokinetic turbine by investigating the effects of blade profile (semi-circular, elliptical, Benesh, NACA6409), number of blades (2–4), overlap ratio (0.05–0.20), gap ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
