Comprehensive Study of the Performance of Winter Tires on Ice, Snow, and Asphalt Roads: The Influence of Tire Type and Wear

open access: yes, 2017
This work presents a comprehensive study of the performance of winter tires on snow, ice, and asphalt. A set of 77 different winter tires were carefully selected for the study. Of these, 27 were new and 50 were worn from real traffic use.

Equivalent Standard Axle Load Analysis Considering Dynamic Load Based on Vehicle Axle-Tire Vertical Acceleration Field Testing

open access: yes, 2023
AbstractIn order to examine equivalent axles load with dynamic load taken into account, pavement roughness test is carried out with a Vehicle Axle-tire Dynamic Load Tester, where axle-tire vertical acceleration of heavy trucks and light trucks are tested, respectively.

An Improved Optimal Slip Ratio Prediction considering Tyre Inflation Pressure Changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The prediction of optimal slip ratio is crucial to vehicle control systems. Many studies have verified there is a definitive impact of tyre pressure change on the optimal slip ratio.

Radial and bias-ply tires used in sugarcane transshipment deflection and soil pressure at two depths under controlled conditions [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural
: Soil compaction caused by heavy machinery traffic is one of the main physical constraints to crop production, especially in sugarcane systems where tire type and load intensity strongly affect soil structure.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Modeling and Validation of a Passenger Car Tire Using Finite Element Analysis

open access: yesVehicles
This paper focuses on the modeling and analysis of a four-groove passenger car tire, size 235/55R19, using finite element analysis. The Mooney–Rivlin material model is employed to define the hyperelastic behavior of the tire rubber compounds for all ...

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated
