Tissue adhesives in endosurgery
Seminars in Laparoscopic Surgery, 2001Usage of tissue adhesives/glues for tissue approximation and hemostasis is increasing as the related technology advances. There is no accepted classification, but surgical adhesives fall into 3 main categories: biological, synthetic, and genetically engineered polymer protein glues.

Rapid Ultratough Topological Tissue Adhesives
Advanced Materials, 2022AbstractTissue adhesives capable of achieving strong and tough adhesion in permeable wet environments are useful in many biomedical applications. However, adhesion generated through covalent bond formation directly with the functional groups of tissues (i.e., COOH and NH2 groups in collagen), or using non‐covalent interactions can both be limited by ...

THE N‐ALKYLALPHACYANOACRYLATE TISSUE ADHESIVES
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1968For the past several years at this laboratory, we have been conducting studies directed toward the development of biologically receptive adhesives to be used as hemostasis-inducing compounds and tissue adhesives in nonsuture closure of wounds.

Cyanoacrylate Tissue Adhesives
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1967To the Editor:— The editorial "Cyanoacrylate Tissue Adhesives" (201:195, 1967) deserves comment. Experimental observations1,2have demonstrated a dichotomy among the alkyl-2-cyanoacrylates in regard to local toxicity. The methyl and ethyl esters are locally toxic, but the higher homologues, such as n-butyl, n-pentyl, n-hexyl, and n-decyl are not.

Cyanoacrylate Tissue Adhesives
The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, 1997Cyanoacrylate adhesives have been available for many years. Until recently, they have been limited by their physical properties, and their popularity has been sporadic due to their incorrect and inappropriate use. A new medical-grade cyanoacrylate adhesive has been developed that has greater strength and flexibility than previous adhesives.

Hydrogel tissue adhesive: Adhesion strategy and application
Colloids and Surfaces B: BiointerfacesHydrogel tissue adhesives have emerged as a promising alternative to conventional wound closure methods such as sutures and staples due to their operational simplicity demonstrated biocompatibility and capacity for multifunctional integration. However, complex and variable tissue microenvironments and dynamic adhesion surfaces still challenge the ...

A prospectus on tissue adhesives
The American Journal of Surgery, 2001Tissue adhesives are common adjuncts in surgical practice. Fibrin sealants are the most prevalent adhesives today. Recently, new adhesives have been approved for use in the United States, including cyanoacrylates, albumin-based compounds, collagen-based compounds, glutaraldehyde glues, and hydrogels.

Applicator for Cyanoacrylate Tissue Adhesive
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1989ABSTRACT Cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive (CTA) is very useful for emergency treatment of corneal perforations. Lack of Food and Drug Administration approval as well as concerns about toxicity from the application of large amounts of glue, however, have limited its use. It is difficult to apply a sufficiently small amount of glue or to achieve a

Disposable Aerosol Tissue Adhesive Spray
Archives of Surgery, 1967THE successful surgical application of various higher homologous cyanoacrylate monomers using new surgical techniques 1-5 has been reported. The spray gun 6 used in these studies permitted delivery of a fine spray which forms homogenous, uniform surface cover with a minimum volume of adhesive. However, the spray gun required cautious and time-consuming
