Techniques for Mammalian Cell Tissue Culture

Current Protocols in Human Genetics, 1994
AbstractThis appendix opens with detailed discussions on the latest principles of sterile technique and preparation of culture media. Step‐by‐step protocols describe trypsinizing and subculturing monolayer cultures, passaging suspension cultures, freezing and thawing cells, counting cells using a hemacytometer, and preparing cells for transport.

Tissue Culture Techniques: Introduction

2021
Cell culture techniques were developed as a way to study animal cells in vitro. The behavior of single cells, organ culture and monolayer cells can be studied without the in vivo influences arising from physiological and environmental variations among experimental animals.

A novel technique to overcome browning in tissue culture

Plant Cell Reports, 1991
Experiments conducted using Dioscorea alata L. revealed that an exudate from the cut end of the explants was responsible for browning of the culture medium. Browning did not affect growth of roots and shoots when explants were cultured in a large volume of medium, but in a small volume it was lethal.

Clonal propagation of Callistemon by tissue culture techniques

Plant Cell Reports, 1982
Callus development in Callistemon viminalis was readily achieved when axillary buds derived from nodal tissue were placed in a medium containing macro- and micro-nutrients, sucrose (0.06 M), inositol (300 μM), nicotinic acid (20 μM), pyridoxine hydrochloride (3 μM), thiamine hydrochloride (2 μM), riboflavin (10 μM), cytokinins (5 μM) and auxins (0.1 μM)

Basic Techniques in Mammalian Cell Tissue Culture

Current Protocols in Cell Biology, 2007
AbstractCultured mammalian cells are used extensively in cell biology studies. It requires a number of special skills in order to be able to preserve the structure, function, behavior, and biology of the cells in culture. This unit describes the basic skills required to maintain and preserve cell cultures: maintaining aseptic technique, preparing media

Techniques in Plant Cell and Tissue Culture

1989
Publisher Summary Progress in refinement of techniques in the past several years has helped to establish tissue culture and cellular genetic manipulation as valuable tools for the development of new crops. This is an outgrowth of the first commercial use of tissue culture, which was the use of shoot tip propagation, as an alternative to conventional ...
