Background Idarucizumab is a specific antidote for the anticoagulant dabigatran. Although its efficacy has been recently reported, the drug is still in postmarketing surveillance and requires case data in different emergency settings. A newer intravenous

Active Fingering Instability in Tissue Spreading [PDF]
During the spreading of epithelial tissues, the advancing tissue front often develops fingerlike protrusions. Their resemblance to traditional viscous fingering patterns in driven fluids suggests that epithelial fingers could arise from an interfacial instability.

Myosin as cofactor and substrate in fibrinolysis [PDF]
Myosin accelerates plasminogen activation by tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA), and is degraded extensively by plasmin. Myosin binds both tPA and plasminogen, and enhances activation of des1-77-plasminogen by tPA but not by urokinase-type ...

The effects of endocrine‐disrupting chemicals on ovarian‐ and ovulation‐related fertility outcomes
Abstract Exposure to endocrine‐disrupting chemicals (EDCs) is unavoidable, which represents a public health concern given the ability of EDCs to target the ovary. However, there is a large gap in the knowledge about the impact of EDCs on ovarian function, including the process of ovulation.

Lingual Haematoma due to Tenecteplase in a Patient with Acute Myocardial Infarction
The use of intravenous thrombolytic agents has revolutionised the treatment of acute myocardial infarction. However, the improvement in mortality rate achieved with these drugs is tempered by the risk of serious bleeding complications, including ...

Background Enhanced bleeding remains a serious problem after cardiac surgery, and fibrinolysis is often involved. We speculate that lower plasma concentrations of plasminogen activator inhibitor – 1 (PAI-1) preoperatively and tissue plasminogen activator/

Active wetting of epithelial tissues [PDF]
Development, regeneration and cancer involve drastic transitions in tissue morphology. In analogy with the behavior of inert fluids, some of these transitions have been interpreted as wetting transitions. The validity and scope of this analogy are unclear, however, because the active cellular forces that drive tissue wetting have been neither measured ...

PAI1 blocks NMDA receptor-mediated effects of tissue-type plasminogen activator on cell signaling and physiology [PDF]
The fibrinolysis proteinase tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA, also known as PLAT) triggers cell signaling and regulates cell physiology. In PC12 cells, Schwann cells and macrophages, the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDA-R) mediates tPA signaling.

Melanoma cell spheroid engraftment is optimized in the chicken chorioallantoic membrane overcoming the complexity of other in vivo models. Using this model, greater penetration of cerium oxide nanoparticles (nanoceria) functionalized with heparin in spheroids is observed via enhancement of vascularization than nanoceria alone.
