Submillimeter diffusion tensor imaging and late gadolinium enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance of chronic myocardial infarction. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BackgroundKnowledge of the three-dimensional (3D) infarct structure and fiber orientation remodeling is essential for complete understanding of infarct pathophysiology and post-infarction electromechanical functioning of the heart.

Tissues under-vacuum to overcome suboptimal preservation

open access: yesNew Biotechnology, 2019
The accuracy of histopathological diagnosis is strictly reliant on adequate tissue preservation, which is completely dependent on pre-analytical variables. Among these variables, the time interval between the end of surgical excision to the onset of fixation (the cold ischemia time) may adversely affect preservation of tissue morphology, influencing ...

Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Fluid preservation in brain banking: a review

open access: yesFree Neuropathology
Fluid preservation is nearly universally used in brain banking to store fixed tissue specimens for future research applications. However, the effects of long-term immersion on neural circuitry and biomolecules are not well characterized.

Postextraction Alveolar Preservation and Use of the Crown of the Extracted Tooth as a Temporary Restoration

open access: yesCase Reports in Dentistry, 2019
Ranging from the extraction of teeth from anterior sector commitment to the loss of bone and soft tissues, alveolar preservation is a regenerative technique that employs biomaterials that induce the preservation of bone tissue and minimize resorption ...

Ovarian tissue cryopreservation for fertility preservation in 418 girls and adolescents up to 15 years of age facing highly gonadotoxic treatment. Twenty years of experience at a single center

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 2019
The preservation of fertility is an integral part of care of children requiring gonadotoxic treatments for cancer or non‐malignant diseases. In France, the cryopreservation of ovarian tissue has been considered and has been offered as a clinical ...

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Hard Tissue Outcomes of Alveolar Ridge Preservation.

open access: yesThe International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, 2018
PURPOSE Alveolar ridge preservation procedures have been advocated to minimize postextraction dimensional loss. There is a need for systematic analyses of clinical factors affecting the outcomes of these procedures in order to improve their clinical ...
