Tissue preservation strategies for fostering long-term soft and hard tissue stability.

The international journal of periodontics & restorative dentistry, 2015
As placement of functionally stable dental implants has become routine, concerns have shifted to maintenance of crestal bone and soft tissue stability. This article proposes the development of a tissue preservation philosophy to avoid crestal bone loss ...

USE OF PRESERVED TISSUES IN ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY

Archives of Surgery, 1952
NAVAL medicine is once again faced with an influx of war-wounded. Extensive traumatic and reconstructive surgery has been necessary for the proper treatment of many of these wounded. The specific problems of bone replacement and skin coverage of the large wounds suggested that stored bone and skin would be useful in selected cases.

Effects of N-acetylcysteine on human ovarian tissue preservation undergoing cryopreservation procedure.

Histology and Histopathology, 2015
The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC), added in freezing/thawing solutions, on reactive oxygen species (RRS) levels and on ovarian tissue preservation after cryopreservation.

‘Cialit’ as a tissue preservative: a microbiological assessment

Journal of Hospital Infection, 1988
We describe bacterial contamination of a 'Cialit'-preserved cartilage bank which continued after a variety of changes to the harvesting and preservation protocols during a 3-year prospective study. Our results emphasize the importance of adequate tissue bank microbiological screening. Alternative methods of tissue preservation should be considered.

Polymorphism of isoenzymes in preserved muscle tissues

Forensic Science International, 1990
In muscles preserved in formalin enzymes were not found to be active. In muscles treated by ethanol the ESD, GLO, GPT and PGP enzymes were active. The best results were obtained in the case of acetone treatment. The phenotypes ESD, GLO, GPT and PGP in tissues corresponded with the ones in the comparative blood samples.

Preservation of Tissue for Immunocytochemical Studies

2001
The preservation of tissue for the accurate microscopic observation of the structure of biological tissues has long been the major goal of all microscopists. No known method is able fully to achieve this aim. To gain a complete understanding of any particular system, it is often necessary to interpret jointly the results obtained from applying several ...

Vascular Tissue Preservation Techniques

1994
Pharmacological studies on isolated blood vessels generally require freshly obtained tissues. These are usually taken from various animals, although results obtained from human tissue would be the most accurate and predictable for human pharmacology. Human tissue can be obtained from surgery and autopsy, but besides obtaining human material, the main ...
