Survival of BCG in rat tissues
Internationales Archiv fr Arbeitsmedizin, 1971Culture on Lowenstein medium shows that lungs, hilar lymph nodes and spleens from female albino rats injected intravenously with BCG, and then killed after observation periods up to 12 months, contain viable BCG. These organisms induced granulomatous tissue reactions in rat lungs, indicating that the resistance of rats to tubercle bacilli is only ...

Endometriosis: harmful survival of an ectopic tissue
Frontiers in Bioscience, 2006Endometriosis results from implantation of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. Endometriosis might remain asymptomatic and discovered accidentally. However, it may cause symptoms, which include chronic pelvic pain, bleeding, infertility, and increases susceptibility to development of adenocarcinoma.

The postmortem survival of tissues
Journal of Surgical Research, 1961Summary 1. The rate of oxidation of glucose C14 to C14O2 in a standard incubation system is proposed as an index of tissue viability. The mean of 74 observations on fresh dog liver is 2.89 ± 0.45 μM. of glucose oxidized to CO2 per gram of wet liver per 100 minutes, as based on recovery of radiocarbon in carbon dioxide. 2.

Inoculation of Basidiomycetes into mice: Tissue Reaction and Survival of Fungi in Tissues*
Mycoses, 2009Summary Culture suspensions of ten species of Basidiomycetes were inoculated intravenously, intraperitoneally, and subcutaneously into mice. Tissue lesions were observed in lungs, omentum, and skin after one and two months, and fungi were viable in the tissue up to two months after inoculation.

Effect of Tissue Ultrafiltration on Skin Flap Survival
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 2004OBJECTIVETissue ultrafiltration (TUF) is a method of reducing tissue edema by removal of interstitial fluid. Considering the deleterious effects of edema on microcirculation and tissue viability, the effect of TUF on skin flap survival was tested.STUDY DESIGN AND SETTINGSurvival of modified McFarlane skin flaps was determined in 40 Sprague‐Dawley rats.

Effect of Cryopreservation on Survival of Composite Tissue Grafts
Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, 1998The problems in cryopreserving complex tissues remain poorly understood. In the present study, the viability of cryopreserved complex tissue, including skin and muscle flaps, and tail, was compared to simple artery and vein grafts in a rat model. Forty-four grafts, including the femoral artery (n = 15), femoral vein (n = 9), gracilis muscle flap (n = 8)

Effect of formalin on the survival of systemic fungi in tissue
Mycopathologia, 1983Stock cultures of Blastomyces dermatitidis, Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans, Histoplasma capsulatum and Sporothrix schenckii were grown in yeast phase on Sabouraud dextrose agar. Standardized suspensions (10(8) colony forming units/ml) were made and 1. the organisms treated for various times with 10% formalin/acetate buffer; 2.

ACCELERATION OF THE RESPIRATION OF SURVIVING TISSUE
Nature, 1941THE respiration of tumour tissue in a glucose medium is increased on addition of a suitable indicator (hereinafter called ‘dye’) or dinitro–o–cresol (DNOC), decreased by a narcotic such as phenyl–urethane. I observed in 1936* that when narcotic and dye are added simultaneously, the respiration is only slightly less than with dye alone.

Monoiodotyrosine: Effects on Tissue Amines and Cold Survival
Neuropsychobiology, 1976The effects of monoiodotyrosine (MIT) on cold survival and levels of tissue amines in rats were studied. MIT was found to impair cold suvival and to lower levels of norepinephrine (NE). These experiments confirm previous pharmacologic evidence that MIT has an anti-adrenergic effect. Cold stress lowered brain NE levels but failed to lower brain dopamine

Local recurrence and survival in soft-tissue sarcomas
Annals of Surgical Oncology, 1996There is a continuous interest in the literature concerning the management and survival after treatment of local recurrence in sarcomas because it is one of the most common types of recurrence. We retrospectively reviewed 93 patients treated for local recurrence from soft-tissue sarcoma. We evaluated prognostic parameters (grade, tumor size, location ...
