TiO2-doped resorcinol–formaldehyde (RF) polymer and carbon gels with photocatalytic activity [PDF]
Resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF) polymer gels offer a relatively easy and versatile route for incorporating metals into a carbon aerogel matrix. The hybrid materials thus obtained are ideal candidates for applications involving enhanced adsorption or ...

Mesoporous silica–titania composed materials
Titania mesosized particles were obtained by TiCl4 hydrolysis in Aerosol OT/water/n-hexane microemulsion. These particles were incorporated in surfactant templated silica mesoporous materials of MCM-41 and MCM-50 structures. Results depended on the surfactant: hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide templated materials retained the honeycomb structure with ...

Switchable and reversible wetting properties
Reversible and switchable wettability is attainable by integrating stimuli‐responsive materials. This review categorizes different external stimuli capable of modulating wettability. Abstract Controlling surface wettability is essential for various applications such as water harvesting, oil/water separation, and smart skin technologies.

Mechanistic Insights of Support Dynamics During Reactive Metal‐Support Interaction
This study uses in situ environmental scanning transmission electron microscopy to investigate the reduction of PdO nanoparticles on ZnO and the formation of intermetallic ZnPd. Hydrogen spillover activates the ZnO support, inducing encapsulation and Zn reduction.

ABSTRACT Titanium dioxide (TiO2), used as a food additive (labeled E171 in Europe), was withdrawn from the European market in 2022. The E171 toxicity mechanism involves its uptake, oxidative stress, DNA damage, and inflammation. It has been hypothesized that the TiO2 accumulation nanoparticles (NPs) or E171 triggers tissue damage, and some studies have

Engineered surface strategies to manage dental implant‐related infections
Abstract When exposed to the oral environment, dental implants, like natural surfaces, become substrates for microbial adhesion and accumulation, often leading to implant‐related infections—one of the main causes of implant failure. These failures impose significant costs on patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems.
