Mössbauer spectroscopy of a natural titanite
Il Nuovo Cimento D, 1990A natural yttrotitanite containing iron impurities is studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy. Isomeric shift data show that both trivalent and divalent iron are present. Comparison between quadrupole splitting of trivalent iron and XRD structural data for iron-free titanite yields information on the effect of titanium iron substitution.

Irradiation-Induced Amorphization Of Titanite
MRS Proceedings, 2000ABSTRACTTitanite (CaTiSiO5) is a widely occurring accessory mineral that contains ppm-level concentrations of U and Th. Radiation effects in titanite are important because this phase is commonly-used for U-Pb age dating of rock formations, and it is also the main crystalline constituent of certain glass-ceramic nuclear waste forms.
