Water Vapor-Assisted "Universal" Nonmatrix-Matched Analytical Method for the in Situ U-Pb Dating of Zircon, Monazite, Titanite, and Xenotime by Laser Ablation-Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry.

Analytical Chemistry, 2018
The U-Pb geochronologic analysis of accessory minerals has played an important role in Earth and solar system science in constraining the ages of a wide variety of rocks and minerals. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICPMS)

Calorimetric baseline fitting: Application to titanite

Phase Transitions, 1999
Abstract In order to analyse calorimetric measurements of a phase transition, it is necessary to determine the baseline from which the excess specific heat is measured. In this study, this baseline is determined by using the constraint that the resulting heat capacity anomaly must be consistent with measurements of the phase transition by other ...

Mössbauer spectroscopy of a natural titanite

Il Nuovo Cimento D, 1990
A natural yttrotitanite containing iron impurities is studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy. Isomeric shift data show that both trivalent and divalent iron are present. Comparison between quadrupole splitting of trivalent iron and XRD structural data for iron-free titanite yields information on the effect of titanium iron substitution.

Irradiation-Induced Amorphization Of Titanite

MRS Proceedings, 2000
ABSTRACTTitanite (CaTiSiO5) is a widely occurring accessory mineral that contains ppm-level concentrations of U and Th. Radiation effects in titanite are important because this phase is commonly-used for U-Pb age dating of rock formations, and it is also the main crystalline constituent of certain glass-ceramic nuclear waste forms.
