X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies of non-stoichiometric superconducting NbB2+x

open access: yes, 2006
Polycrystalline samples of NbB2+x with nominal composition (B/Nb) = 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The spectra revealed Nb and B oxides on the surface of the samples, mainly B2O3 and Nb2O5.

Exceptional strength and wear resistance in an AA7075/TiB2 composite fabricated via friction consolidation

open access: yesMaterials & Design
The friction consolidation method successfully reinforced aluminum 7075 alloy (AA7075) with high-volume fractions (12 and 24 vol%) of titanium diboride (TiB2) by high pressure and severe plastic deformation at elevated temperatures. The consolidated AMCs

Upper critical field as a probe for multiband superconductivity in bulk and interfacial STO

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate the temperature dependence of the upper critical field $H_{c 2} $ as a tool to probe the possible presence of multiband superconductivity at the interface of LAO/STO.

Study on Mechanical and Tribological Characterization of Titanium Diboride (TiB2) Reinforced Al7075 Composites by Taguchi Technique

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures
Three distinct titanium diboride (TiB2) weight percentages 3%, 6%, and 9% were incorporated into Al7075-TiB2 composites by stir casting. Al7075-TiB2 composites' wear and mechanical characteristics were evaluated.

Improving properties of boron carbide (B4C) with silicon doping and titanium diboride addition

open access: yesOpen Ceramics
In this research, B4C-TiB2 composites were successfully fabricated via the spark plasma sintering method. First, the TiB2 source effect on the B4C-TiB2 composites was investigated using commercially available TiB2 and in-house synthesized TiB2 ...
