Refined microstructure and ultrahigh mechanical strength of (TiN + TiB)/Ti composites in situ synthesized via laser powder bed fusion

open access: yesAdditive Manufacturing Letters, 2022
Titanium matrix composites reinforced by titanium nitride (TiN) and titanium boride (TiB) were in situ synthesized via laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) using premixed boron nitride (BN) and titanium powders. The optimal BN content was determined as 0.5 wt%

Ultra-thin titanium nitride films for refractory spectral selectivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We demonstrate a selectively emitting optical Fabry-P\'erot resonator based on a few-nm-thin continuous metallic titanium nitride film, separated by a dielectric spacer from an optically thick titanium nitride back-reflector, which exhibits excellent ...

Preparation of Titanium Nitride from Direct Nitridation of Titanium.

open access: yesJOURNAL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING OF JAPAN, 1998
The reaction between titanium pellet and flowing nitrogen under 1 atm over the temperature range 973 to 1373 K was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis system, scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. α-Ti → TiN0.3 → TiN0.5 → TiN was found to be the sequence of transformation of solid sample.

High performance corrosion and wear resistant composite titanium nitride layers produced on the AZ91D magnesium alloy by a hybrid method

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2014
Composite, diffusive titanium nitride layers formed on a titanium and aluminum sub-layer were produced on the AZ91D magnesium alloy. The layers were obtained using a hybrid method which combined the PVD processes with the final sealing by a hydrothermal ...

Effect of cathodic arc plasma deposition on shear bond strength between palladium cobalt chromium coated with titanium nitride and titanium aluminium nitride with ceramic

open access: yesContemporary Clinical Dentistry, 2021
Background: The success of esthetic ceramo-metal restoration is strongly influenced by its bond strength. The success of ceramo-metal restoration is subjective to its bond strength.

Study of the Role of Titanium and Iron Cathodic Cages on Plasma-Nitrided AISI 430 Ferritic Stainless Steel

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
In contrast to austenitic and martensitic stainless steels, ferritic stainless steels have a lower hardness and wear resistance but exhibit excellent corrosion resistance.

Microstructural Characterization of Shrouded Plasma-Sprayed Titanium Coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Titanium and its alloys are often used for corrosion protection because they are able to offer high chemical resistance against various corrosive media. In this paper, shrouded plasma spray technology was applied to produce titanium coatings.
