Vapour Phase Synthesis and Characterization of TiN Nanoparticles
The special features of nano-structured nitrides, especially those of transition metals, have been motivating the search for new synthesis methods. This paper is primarily focused on the characterisation of nanoscale titanium nitride (TiN) synthesised ...

Titanium Nitride (TiN) Germination and Growth during Vacuum Arc Remelting of a Maraging Steel
During the processing of maraging steels, Titanium easily combines with Nitrogen to form nitride inclusions, known to be deleterious for fatigue properties of the alloy.

Origin and Suppression of $1/f$ Magnetic Flux Noise [PDF]
Magnetic flux noise is a dominant source of dephasing and energy relaxation in superconducting qubits. The noise power spectral density varies with frequency as $1/f^\alpha$ with $\alpha \sim 1$ and spans 13 orders of magnitude.

Discrete One-Stage Mechanochemical Synthesis of Titanium-Nitride in a High-Energy Mill
Discrete (discontinuous) mechanochemical synthesis of titanium nitride was experimentally investigated. The experimental results show that mechanical activation intensifies the chemical conversion in the Ti-N system, and the discrete synthesis of the ...

Microstructural characterization of laser nitrided titanium [PDF]
Laser gas alloying of Ti in a nitrogen atmosphere results in a modified surface layer consisting of hard ceramic TiN dendrites embedded in a ductile substrate with on top a thin TiN layer. Hardness as high as 1,800 Vickers has been measured. However after laser processing, as a consequence of residual stresses, cracking occurs.

TiOxNy coatings grown by atmospheric pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition [PDF]
Titanium oxynitride coatings were deposited on various substrates by an original atmospheric pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) process using titanium tetra-iso-propoxide as titanium and oxygen precursors and hydrazine as a nitrogen
