High Titer Widal Reaction

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1972
To the Editor.— Definitive diagnosis of typhoid fever rests upon isolation of Salmonella typhosa. Pending results of isolation procedures, preliminary serology tests are widely used; the Widal reaction being the preferred test. 1,2,3 Despite difficulty with the interpretation of the Widal reaction, it is generally thought that a significant O antigen ...

Clinical outcomes among low‐titer group O whole blood recipients compared to recipients of conventional components in civilian trauma resuscitation

Transfusion, 2018
The serological safety of transfusing ≤4 units of low titer group O whole blood (LTOWB) in civilian trauma patients has been demonstrated. This study investigated clinical outcomes of LTOWB recipients compared to patients who received only conventional ...

High Titer Glucagon Antisera

Endocrinology, 1977
Antibody titers in rabbits immunized with glucagon conjugated to albumin using difluorodinitrobenzene rose rapidly. Under conditions of immunoassay, less than 2 nl of serum from two of four animals and approximately 4 nl from the other two was required to bind 50% of the 10 pg of [125I]iodoglucagon 100 days after immunization.

Prehospital low-titer cold-stored whole blood: Philosophy for ubiquitous utilization of O-positive product for emergency use in hemorrhage due to injury

Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, 2018
The mortality from hemorrhage in trauma patients remains high. Early balanced resuscitation improves survival. These truths, balanced with the availability of local resources and our goals for positive regional impact, were the foundation for the ...

Titering Replication-Defective rSV40 Vectors

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2010
INTRODUCTIONRecombinant simian virus 40 (rSV40)-derived vectors are particularly useful for gene delivery to bone marrow progenitor cells and their differentiated derivatives, certain types of epithelial cells (e.g., hepatocytes), and central nervous system neurons and microglia.

Antithrombin titer in acute pancreatitis

The American Journal of Medicine, 1952
Abstract The antithrombin titer for acute pancreatitis was markedly elevated in fifty of fifty-five proven cases of acute pancreatitis. In 97 per cent of a control series of 304 patients with acute surgical abdominal diseases the antithrombin titer was normal.

The Use of TORCH Titers

Pediatrics, 1983
Of 603 patients undergoing serologic tests for Toxoplasma, syphilis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, and herpes simplex (TORCH tests) during a 4-year period, 381 (63%) were infants younger than 6 months and 110 (18%) were either the mothers of those infants or pregnant women.

Systems immunology: Beyond antibody titers

Journal of Infection, 2016
Despite the evident success of currently available vaccines to prevent infectious diseases, we still lack a full understanding of the mechanisms by which vaccines induce protective immune responses. Systems immunology applies multifaceted analytical tools to better understand the immune responses to vaccines by deep characterization of the cellular ...

Rubella antibody titer. The significance of low-titered rubella antibodies.

Obstetrics and gynecology, 1978
The hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) test is not mathematically precise and reproducible. Thus, it is critical to know whether or not the threshold titer (1 : 10) of detectable rubella antibody is indicative of true immunity. Three patients with a 1 : 10 HAI titer presented with subsequent rubella during gestation.
