Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Microbial Quality and Production Methods of Traditional Fermented Cheeses in Lebanon

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science
This study is aimed at evaluating the quality and safety of two traditional fermented dairy products commonly found in Lebanon (Ambarees and Kishk in its dry and wet forms) by detecting foodborne pathogens and indicator microorganisms.

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Investigating diverse photogrammetric techniques in the hazard assessment of historical sites of the Museum of the Coal Basin Area in Będzin, Poland

open access: yesReports on Geodesy and Geoinformatics
Assessing the condition of historical sites at risk requires an interdisciplinary approach based on combining multiple measurement technologies. Due to the dynamic development of technology, non-invasive remote sensing methods are gaining significant ...

Utilizarea scanerului laser terestru în măsurătorile forestiere: cerințe metodologice și precauții necesare la aplicarea în practică [TLS in forest inventories: methodology and precautions] [PDF]

open access: yesBucovina Forestieră, 2018
TLS is also known as ground-based LiDAR which provides the capacity to recreate the 3D vegetation structure with millimeter accuracy. The distance measurement of terrestrial laser scanner Z+F Imager 5010 is based on phase shift measurements which is ...

Avidin is evolutionarily conserved in fish but dispensable for development and resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae in zebrafish

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.
