Drivers and Impacts of R&D Adoption on Transport and Logistics Services [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Actually, technologies and applications in industries are changing via business restructuring, new business models, new knowledge and supply chains. So R&D is not focused primarily on manufacturing industry as it used to be, but on different kinds of ...

Laser‐Based Sculpturing of Embedded Ultrathin Metal‐Oxide Nanopores for Enhanced Biomolecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.

Three‐dimensional Antimony Sulfide Based Flat Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the development of a grayscale electron beam lithography (g‐EBL) method for fabricating antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) nanostructures with customizable 3D profiles. The refractive index of g‐EBL patterned Sb2S3 is determined based on the synergy of genetic algorithm and transfer matrix method.

Generating Cell Surface Nucleated Hydrogels with an Artificial Membrane‐Binding Transglutaminase

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell‐based therapies require advanced strategies to enhance cell delivery and bioactivity. Cell membrane engineering offers an avenue to impart new functions to delivered cells to boost their viability and function. Here, an artificial membrane‐binding transglutaminase is generated and biophysically characterized.

Transit Least Squares: Optimized transit detection algorithm to search for periodic transits of small planets

open access: yes, 2019
We present a new method to detect planetary transits from time-series photometry, the Transit Least Squares (TLS) algorithm. TLS searches for transit-like features while taking the stellar limb darkening and planetary ingress and egress into account.

Selective Charge Injection via Topological van der Waals Contacts for Barrier‐Free p‐Type TMD Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Topological van der Waals contacts represent a new class of electrodes for 2D semiconductors, enabling precise control of the Schottky barrier height (SBH) and contact resistance (RC) through interlayer distance and orbital hybridization engineering. In Se‐based transition metal dichalcogenides, these contacts achieve an ultralow SBH of 7 meV, RC of 0.

Integrating surveying, photogrammetric, and remote sensing data to generate large-scale maps [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering
Integration means the combination of smaller elements into a coherent system that can function as a whole. In civil engineering, integration combines data from different sources to yield complete information about an object.

Recomposable Layered Metasurfaces for Wavelength‐Multiplexed Optical Encryption via Modular Diffractive Deep Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Modular diffractive deep neural network metasurfaces encode and reconstruct holograms across layer combinations and wavelengths, enabling secure, multifunctional operation. Each layer acts independently yet composes jointly, yielding up to m(2N −1) channels for m wavelengths and N layers.
