Probiotic strain Bacillus subtilis TO-A modulates the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps

open access: yesGut Microbes Reports
Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have important innate immune functions that prevent pathogenic infections. In the intestinal tract, NET formation contributes to the prevention of the systemic spread of commensal bacteria associated with mucosal ...

Involvement of Adenosine A2a Receptor in Intraocular Pressure Decrease Induced by 2-(1-Octyn-1-yl)adenosine or 2-(6-Cyano-1-hexyn-1-yl)adenosine

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2005
The aim of the present study is to clarify the mechanism for the decrease in intraocular pressure by 2-alkynyladenosine derivatives in rabbits. The receptor binding analysis revealed that 2-(1-octyn-1-yl)adenosine (2-O-Ado) and 2-(6-cyano-1-hexyn-1-yl ...

Motion of Floating Caisson with Extended Bottom Slab under Regular and Irregular Waves

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Floating caissons may oscillate primarily due to ocean waves during towing operations. Reducing the oscillation based on the extension part (footing) of the bottom slab of the caissons can efficiently increase the safety of towing maneuvers. However, the

Lactiplantibacillus plantarum TO-A Reduces Fat Accumulation in Caenorhabditis elegans via pept-1

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) have dominated food fermentation globally and are ingrained in many food cultures. Obesity is a global health concern, and LAB ingestion is known to exert anti-obesity effects in animals.

Bacillus subtilis TO-A suppresses the age-related decline in locomotion in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Research on the role of probiotics in maintaining locomotor function in aged Caenorhabditis elegans is limited. Therefore, we investigated whether a probiotic strain, Bacillus subtilis TO-A (BSTOA), which extends the lifespan of worms can prevent age ...

EL DISEÑO Y EL LÍMITE DE SU VALIDEZ. ENTRE LA ÉTICA AMBIENTAL Y LA ÉTICA CULTURAL

open access: yesDaya, 2017
El diseño como actividad y resultado de un proceso se relaciona con el contexto. Sin contexto no existe diseño, y es en esta íntima relación en que se marca la validez del producto. Se trata de un contexto complejo, definido por el ambiente y la cultura,

Surfaceome Reprogramming of Stemsomes Promotes Lung Cancer Targeting via Potentiated Receptor–Ligand Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a surfaceome‐reprogramming strategy for mutation‐independent lung cancer therapy by repurposing dexamethasone to prime mesenchymal stem cell‐derived nanovesicles. The engineered vesicles leverage multi‐valent interactions mediated by upregulated adhesion proteins, EPHA2, and NOTCH3.

Toku toa, he toa rangatira: Fearlessness and Indigenous Scholarship

open access: yesLink Symposium Abstracts 2020, 2020
A well-known whakataukī (aphorism, proverb) tells us toku toa, he toa rangatira, quite literally ‘my courage is inherited’. Wairaka is known as an impressive young wahine from pre-colonial times who, in the face of a life or death situation, stood up to adversity to supersede an important, long held tikanga Māori (protocol) to save the Ngāti Awa iwi ...

Interfacial Interaction‐Engineered Dual Lithiophilic Ultrathin Interlayers for Dendrite‐Suppressed Lithium Metal Textile Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultrathin lithiophilic interlayers engineered on a 3D textile electrode and separator cooperatively regulate interfacial Li nucleation and Li+ transport, leading to homogeneous Li plating and mitigated dendrite formation. The resulting dual‐interfacial design provides long‐term cycling stability, improved full‐cell durability, and a scalable pathway ...
