Comparing Geo-Location Bounds for TOA, TDOA, and Round-Trip Toa

2007 IEEE 18th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2007
Development of future geo-location systems requires an understanding of the fundamental limits imposed by system parameters such as bandwidth, SNR, number of sensors, etc. Additionally, the system designer can choose among several existing location techniques, such as time-of-arrival (TOA), time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA), and round-trip time-of ...

Advanced TOA Estimation For Multipath Channels

2020 IEEE/ION Position, Location and Navigation Symposium (PLANS), 2020
In this paper, estimation of time of arrival (TOA) in multipath environments is tackled as it is considered a real limiting factor in terrestrial and GNSS positioning systems. Novel methods are presented for designing novel near-causal filters and TOA-Matched Filters (TOA-MF) that facilitate estimation of the TOA. Near and far multipath are effectively

TOA Estimation with the IEEE 802.15.4a Standard

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2010
This paper discusses a ranging algorithm appropriate for impulse radio ultra-wideband signals compliant with the IEEE 802.15.4a standard. Three steps are indicated to locate the so-called ranging marker in the received signal. The first is to find the highest peaks in the channel responses to the transmitted pulses. The second consists in measuring the

TOA Estimation with Pulses of Unknown Shape

2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007
This paper investigates time of arrival estimation via impulse radio ultra-wideband technology. A dense multipath channel is assumed and frequency-selective propagation effects are taken into account that make the individual received pulses different in shape from the transmitted monocycles. Assuming only an approximate knowledge of the received pulses'

A hybrid TDoA-ToA localization method

ICT 2013, 2013
One of the main advantages when comparing time over signal strength localization methods, is that the former do not require the creation of fingerprint databases. On the other hand, the majority of time based methods require some sort of clock synchronization due to the drifting of the local clocks.

TOA Based Joint Synchronization and Localization

2010 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2010
Time of arrival (TOA) based joint synchronization and localization is a very important research area for wireless ad hoc sensor network applications. In this paper we propose a computationally efficient algorithm. The proposed algorithm is based on the linearized equations from TOA measurements, and applies a weighted least square criterion that leads ...

Optimal Geometry Analysis for Multistatic TOA Localization

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2016
Multistatic time-of-arrival (TOA) localization has recently attracted great attention due to performance advantages offered by multistatic radar. In target localization, the relative sensor-target geometry is an important factor that can significantly affect the localization performance.

Toa revisted

1995

The Toa Micro Cell Counter

Scandinavian Journal of Haematology, 1969
Although the physico‐electronic principle on which detection of cells is based in the Toa counter differs from that used in the Coulter counter, results of erythrocyte counts made with the two counters show a similar degree of precision. The two counters are about equivalent in terms of reproducibility of leucocyte counts.
