Natural Radioactivity in Tobacco and Tobacco Smoke

Measurements were made of the natural radioactivity in cigarette tobacco, ash, and main-stream smoke. The observed level in smoke was compared with figures obtained by calculations on K/sup 40/ content. Results are tabulated and compared with measurements on daily dietary K/sup 40/ intake and data on the fate of particles in the respiratory tract.
