ON THE MUTATION OF THE TOBACCO MOSAIC VIRUS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Physiology, 1949
Experiments on x-ray-induced mutations of the tobacco mosaic virus (Gowen) are analyzed on the basis of the ionization theory. The size of the volume within which the primary process of mutation develops is calculated on the basis of three alternative assumptions; viz., (1) that this volume consists of protein, (2) that it is nucleic acid, (3) that it ...

Presence and Distribution of Tobacco Viruses in Montenegro [PDF]

open access: yesPesticidi i Fitomedicina, 2007
Seven important tobacco viruses were investigated in Montenegro in 2005: Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV), Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV), Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV), Potato Virus Y (PVY), Alfalfa Mosaic Virus (AMV), Tobacco Ring Spot Virus (TRSV) and ...

Tobacco mosaic virus 126-kDa Protein Increases the Susceptibility of Nicotiana tabacum to Other Viruses and Its Dosage Affects Virus-Induced Gene Silencing

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2008
The Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) 126-kDa protein is a suppressor of RNA silencing previously shown to delay the silencing of transgenes in Nicotiana tabacum and N. benthamiana.

Incidence and possible sources of Tomato spotted wilt virus in tobacco grown in Denizli Province, Turkey

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 2022
Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) is economically prominent disease for its impact on tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) production worldwide. An increase of the incidence of symptoms typical of TSWV has been observed in tobacco production areas in Denizli ...

PROTEIN OF TOBACCO MOSAIC VIRUS

open access: yesBiological Reviews, 1963
SummaryA typical infective rod‐shaped particle of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) is composed of ribonucleic acid, of molecular weight about 2,000,000 and about 2200 helically arranged protein sub‐units, each with a molecular weight of about 18,000. The sub‐unit is made of a single chain of 158 amino‐acid residues of known sequence.

Potential risk of plant viruses entering disease cycle in surface water in protected vegetable growing areas of Eastern China.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
With the expansion of protected vegetable growing areas (PVGAs), viral plant diseases have become more prevalent, causing severe economic losses to the vegetable production industry in China. At present, researches on plant viruses mainly focus on plants,

Dielectric spectroscopy of Tobacco Mosaic Virus [PDF]

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 2003
The dielectric properties of the Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) have been measured using time domain dielectric spectroscopy (TDDS) in the temperature range from 1 to 40 degrees C. A single dielectric dispersion is observed in the MHz range. The activation energy of the process is found to be in the range 1-2 kcal/mol.

Identification of Proteins of Tobacco Mosaic Virus by Using a Method of Feature Extraction

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2020
Tobacco mosaic virus, TMV for short, is widely distributed in the global tobacco industry and has a significant impact on tobacco production. It can reduce the amount of tobacco grown by 50–70%.

Determining the Relationship Between Salicylic Acid Levels and Systemic Acquired Resistance Induction in Tobacco

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1998
Salicylic acid (SA) has been proposed as the systemic signal for the induction of systemic acquired resistance (SAR). It has been suggested that SA is synthesized at the site of pathogen-induced necrosis and is translocated to induce SAR in uninfected ...
