Viruses infecting daphne in New Zealand : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Horticultural Science [PDF]
The genus Daphne belongs to the Thymelaeaceae and contains both evergreen and deciduous shrubs which produce attractive, highly fragrant flowers. Plants are neat and shapely and seldom grow more than 3-4 feet high, fitting well into rock gardens or ...

Infection of Tobacco Mesophyll Protoplasts with Tobacco Mosaic Virus
Summary Isolated protoplasts from healthy tobacco mesophyll tissue were infected with a Rothamsted culture of the common strain of tobacco mosaic virus. The average yield of virus/infected protoplast was estimated at 1.4 to 5.8 × 106 particles, which was almost as much as found in intact plants.

Semi-blind Sparse Image Reconstruction with Application to MRFM [PDF]
We propose a solution to the image deconvolution problem where the convolution kernel or point spread function (PSF) is assumed to be only partially known. Small perturbations generated from the model are exploited to produce a few principal components explaining the PSF uncertainty in a high dimensional space.

Genes involved in barley yellow dwarf virus resistance of maize [PDF]
KEY MESSAGE: The results of our study suggest that genes involved in general resistance mechanisms of plants contribute to variation of BYDV resistance in maize. ABSTRACT: With increasing winter temperatures in Europe, Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) is

Plant genetic transformation: achievements, current status and future prospects
Summary Regeneration represents a fundamental biological process wherein an organism's tissues or organs repair and replace themselves following damage or environmental stress. In plant systems, injured tree branches can regenerate adventitious buds and develop new crowns through propagation techniques like cuttings and canopy pruning, while transgenic

Efficient clonal seeds sorting for apomictic hybrid rice using a pollen‐specific gene switch system
Summary Significant progress in apomictic hybrid rice development faces challenges like achieving high induction rates and seed‐setting efficiencies, and distinguishing clonal from zygotic embryos. To address the challenge of selecting clonal seeds, we developed a dual‐fluorescence labelling gene switch system using the recombinase Cre/LoxP + FRT ...
