An evergreen host for Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV) in Turkey: Polygala myrtifoli
Polygala myrtifolia is known as Myrtle-leaf milkwort or Petite Butterflys, which is cultivated as an ornamental in Turkey. During the observations in 2014-2015 summers, systemic mosaic and irregular yellowish lines were recorded on leaves.

Functional analysis of the N-terminal basic motif of a eukaryotic satellite RNA virus capsid protein in replication and packaging [PDF]
Efficient replication and assembly of virus particles are integral to the establishment of infection. In addition to the primary role of the capsid protein (CP) in encapsidating the RNA progeny, experimental evidence on positive sense single-stranded RNA viruses suggests that the CP also regulates RNA synthesis. Here, we demonstrate that replication of

RNAi-mediated resistance to SMV and BYMV in transgenic tobacco [PDF]
Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) and bean yellow mosaic virus (BYMV) are two typical types of viruses that cause mosaic in soybean plants. Multiple viral infections at the same site can lead to 66% to 80% yield reduction.

Graphene as a transparent conductive support for studying biological molecules by transmission electron microscopy [PDF]
We demonstrate the application of graphene as a support for imaging individual biological molecules in transmission electron microscope (TEM). A simple procedure to produce free-standing graphene membranes has been designed. Such membranes are extremely robust and can support practically any sub-micrometer object.

Low-energy electron holographic imaging of individual tobacco mosaic virions [PDF]
Modern structural biology relies on NMR, X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy for gaining information on biomolecules at nanometer, sub-nanometer or atomic resolution. All these methods, however, require averaging over a vast ensemble of entities and hence knowledge on the conformational landscape of an individual particle is lost ...

Columnar versus smectic order in systems of charged colloidal rods [PDF]
We study the stability of inhomogeneous liquid crystalline states in systems of monodisperse, stiff, charged rods. By means of a bifurcation analysis applied to the Onsager free energy for charged rods in strongly nematic states, we investigate nematic-smectic and nematic-columnar instabilities as a function of the Debye screening length.

Combining detection and reconstruction of correlational and quasi-periodic motifs in viral genomic sequences with transitional genome mapping: Application to COVID-19 [PDF]
A method of Transitional Automorphic Mapping of the Genome on Itself (TAMGI) is aimed at combining detection and reconstruction of correlational and quasi-periodic motifs in the viral genomic RNA/DNA sequences. The motifs reconstructed by TAMGI are robust with respect to indels and point mutations and can be tried as putative therapeutic targets.

Nematic Ordering of Rigid Rods in a Gravitational Field [PDF]
The isotropic-to-nematic transition in an athermal solution of long rigid rods subject to a gravitational (or centrifugal) field is theoretically considered in the Onsager approximation. The new feature emerging in the presence of gravity is a concentration gradient which coupled with the nematic ordering.
