Neonatal impact of maternal biomarker screening for risk of preterm birth with targeted interventions (PRIME): A multicenter, randomized, controlled trial

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Background Preterm birth remains a leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality, yet clinicians possess limited tools to identify at‐risk pregnancies and implement effective interventions. This study evaluated whether knowledge of a mid‐second‐trimester maternal blood biomarker test result, combined with an intervention bundle for those ...

The roles of Prostanoid EP receptors in the control of contractions of human myometrium

open access: yes, 2012
The primary function of the uterus during pregnancy is to harbour the growing fetus in a quiescent environment. Upon maturation of the fetus, the uterus generates forceful contractions during labour. Prostaglandins are central in the parturition process.

Predictive factors for emergency cervical cerclage efficacy in singleton and twin pregnancies: A retrospective cohort study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 1, Page 105-116, January 2026.
Emergency cerclage is associated with high offspring survival and generally comparable outcomes in both singleton and twin pregnancies. Its efficacy is influenced by several preoperative clinical factors, with gestational age at placement and the presence of prolapsed membranes emerging as the strongest predictors of delivery before 28 weeks.

The Association Between Use of Inhaled Corticosteroids and Long‐Acting Beta2‐Agonists During Pregnancy and Adverse Fetal Outcomes

open access: yesRespirology, Volume 31, Issue 1, Page 32-41, January 2026.
This study updated safety evidence on ICS and LABA use in pregnant women with asthma. After adjusting confounders, there was no association between ICS or LABA use and adverse fetal outcomes. However, high‐dose ICS exposure was associated with a higher risk of congenital anomalies among ICS users.
