Mineralization at Titanium Surfaces is a Two-Step Process
Mapping the initial reaction of implants with blood or cell culture medium is important for the understanding of the healing process in bone. In the present study, the formation of low crystalline carbonated hydroxyapatite (CHA) onto commercially pure ...

TOF-SIMS Imaging of Lipids on Rat Brain Sections
Since several decades, secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) coupled to time of flight (TOF) is used for atomic or small inorganic/organic fragments imaging on different materials. With the advent of polyatomic ion sources leading to a significant increase of sensitivity in combination with a reasonable spatial resolution (1-10 μm), TOF-SIMS is ...

Lipid Heterogeneity Resulting from Fatty Acid Processing in the Human Breast Cancer Microenvironment Identified by GCIB-ToF-SIMS Imaging [PDF]
Breast cancer is an umbrella term used to describe a collection of different diseases with broad inter- and intratumor heterogeneity. Understanding this variation is critical in order to develop, and precisely prescribe, new treatments.

Synergistic control of surface uniformity and solid–electrolyte interphase robustness regulates potassium deposition, suppressing dendritic growth and enabling uniform, dense potassium plating. This combined strategy promotes stable interfacial chemistry and homogeneous electric‐field distribution, leading to enhanced reversibility and long‐term ...

Colossal Photovoltaic Current in Ferroelectric Oxide by Constructing Defect Band
Colossal photovoltaic current density of 34.36 mA/cm2 under 375 nm illumination has been achieved in the Pb‐deficient PbTiO3 film. The ultraviolet photoresponsivity surpasses that of all reported ferroelectric materials. This enhancement is attributed to the junction effect between the Pb‐deficient and non‐defective layers.

Increase of Compact Bone Thickness in Rat Tibia after Implanting MgO into the Bone Marrow Cavity
The effect of implanting MgO paste into the bone marrow of rat tibia, was studied by light microscopy, time of flight-secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS), and environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM), and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX ...
