USAG‐1 and Regenerative Dentistry, Therapeutic Implications and Future Directions: Review of the Literature

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Uterine Sensitization‐Associated Gene 1 (USAG‐1) is a bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) antagonist vital for tooth regeneration that is expressed in kidney, gingiva, and dental tissues. Material and methods We analyzed recent studies focusing on USAG‐1 and its involvement in BMP and Wnt signaling pathways related to dental tissue ...

Machine learning approaches for crystallographic classification from synthetic 2D X‐ray diffraction data

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 59, Issue 1, Page 206-224, February 2026.
This study introduces the novel Auto Diffraction Pipeline to generate large‐scale synthetic 2D X‐ray diffraction datasets from crystallographic information files. By training convolutional neural networks on these diverse datasets, the authors achieve rapid and automated classification across all seven crystal systems and 230 space groups ...

Land use gradients drive spatial variation in Lassa fever host communities in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 2, Page 296-312, February 2026.
As West Africa urbanises, the risk of Lassa fever may paradoxically decrease. We found the invasive house mouse, a dominant urban species, outcompetes and displaces the primary Lassa virus host. Considering these species interactions is critical for accurately predicting future zoonotic disease patterns.

Detection and Genetic Diversity of Heritable Bacterial Symbionts in Human Lice Based on 16S‐rRNA Gene

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Candidatus Riesia pediculicola and Wolbachia were found in 79.6% and 95.2% of head lice, and 81.8% and 100% of body lice. Candidatus Riesia pthiripubis and Wolbachia appeared in 41.7% and 75% of pubic lice. Maximum‐likelihood 16S‐rRNA phylogeny revealed substantial heterogeneity within symbiont populations. ABSTRACT Human lice are obligate bloodsucking

Evolution of Production Specialization and Factor Accumulation in Sub‐Saharan and North Africa

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, Volume 30, Issue 1, Page 518-548, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite trade liberalization and regional economic integration policies, the level of trade and specialization in Africa is stagnating. This long‐term observation contrasts with recent developments in Africa since the 2000s. This study aims to assess how changes in factor endowments affect the specialization pattern of production, exploring ...
