Model of the H-mode in tokamaks

Nuclear Fusion, 1989
The paper presents a theoretical model of the H-mode in tokamaks which is based on the bifurcation of the radial electric field at the plasma edge. The electric field is determined by the balance of the non-ambipolar fluxes of ions and electrons at the edge.

Plasma edge model for tokamaks

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1980
Abstract The discharge characteristics in fusion experiments, particularly tokamaks, are often determined by the coupling between the core plasma and the region between the limiter and the vacuum wall. A zero dimensional scrape-off model is developed which incorporates the essential atomic physics and plasma/wall interactions.

Modelling of Ohmic discharges in ADITYA tokamak using the Tokamak Simulation Code

Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2004
Several Ohmic discharges of the ADITYA tokamak are simulated using the Tokamak Simulation Code (TSC), similar to that done earlier for the TFTR tokamak. Unlike TFTR, the dominant radiation process in ADITYA is through impurity line radiation. TSC can follow the experimental plasma current and position to very good accuracy.

Critical issues for modeling dust transport in tokamaks

Physical Review E, 2010
Dust produced in tokamaks is an important issue for fusion. Dust particles can introduce health and safety issues when in the same time can have an impact on reactor performance. Apart from the associated problems there are also potential benefits that make the better understanding of their behavior important.

Port-based modeling of magnetohydrodynamics equations for Tokamaks

2010 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2010
In this paper, we presented the port-representation of the magnetoheydrodynamincs of Tokamaks, which consist of Maxwell equations and the equations of ideal compressible isentropic fluids with a coupling.

Plasma modelling for the control of vertical instabilities in tokamaks

Nuclear Fusion, 1989
A linearized non-rigid MHD consistent displacement model is shown to be adequate to the study of the vertical stability of a plasma in an air core or iron core tokamak. This simple but accurate approach, which can be extended to the study of shape and radial position control, can be used in determining the limits of validity of the linear approximation

Modeling of Ray Splitting in a Tokamak

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2005
We summarize recent progress toward developing a practical ray‐tracing algorithm that includes linear mode conversion, for realistic tokamak geometry. The goal of this code development project is to create new and easy‐to‐use numerical ray‐tracing tools for the study of RF heating and current drive.

Modeling and control of System of Systems: The Tokamak scenario

2018 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2018
System-of-Systems (SoS) can be defined as a large-scale integration of many independent, self-contained systems having the common aim of satisfying a global need. Under this perspective, lots of systems of systems can be found in several fields, where a common final goal drives systems towards a final SoS state. In nuclear fusion research area, several

Model-based decoupling control of tokamak plasmas

2012 American Control Conference (ACC), 2012
Several model-based decoupling controllers have been simulated or implemented for control of plasmas in operating tokamaks. This type of control provides an appealing solution for those responsible for operating tokamaks because of the intuitive relationship between changes in control actuators and the response of controlled plasma parameters.
