Pharmacokinetics and toxicity of tolonium chloride in sheep.
Veterinary and human toxicology, 1997The pharmacokinetic disposition, urinary excretion and toxicity of tolonium chloride were determined after i.v. administration to sheep. Pretreatment with sodium nitrite significantly decreased the volume of the central compartment, apparent volume of distribution, area under the concentration-time curve, and total body clearance of tolonium chloride ...

A 22-year-old patient underwent surgery for a glass wound incision of the hand and anesthesia was carried out using an axillary brachial plexus block with prilocaine. Following surgery the patient developed methemoglobinemia which was treated with tolonium chloride. After administration of the drug the sinus rhythm changed into ventricular fibrillation.
