How Activated Carboxylic Acids Can Drive Dissipative Systems

open access: yesChemSystemsChem, EarlyView.
This concept aims to describe the dissipative chemical systems driven by activated carboxylic acids (ACAs), identifying three different types: systems under dissipative conditions (Type 1), energy ratchets (Type 2), and non‐equilibrium steady states (NESS) systems (Type 3).

What are the consequences of water stress on the development of late postzygotic reproductive isolation in an orchid hybrid zone?

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, EarlyView.
Hybrids vulnerable to drought may increase postzygotic isolation in hybrid zones. Drought experiments can reveal the influence of climate change on hybrid zones. Crassulacean acid metabolism in parental species and hybrids was negatively affected by drought.

Non‐Allergic Urticarial Skin Reactions Associated With MOv18 IgE, a First‐In‐Class IgE Antibody Recognising Folate Receptor Alpha

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
MOv18 IgE, the first‐in‐class IgE antibody targeting the cancer antigen folate receptor alpha (FR⍺) showed early signs of efficacy and was well tolerated in a first‐in‐human clinical trial, with transient urticarial skin reactions as the most common toxicity.

Characterisation of localised pigment accumulation in brains of eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) after clinical disease due to chronic Phalaris species toxicosis

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
A progressive tremorgenic syndrome characterised by ataxia and head nodding is well documented in sheep and cattle affected by chronic Phalaris toxicosis (CPT), and is increasingly documented in the eastern grey kangaroo {(EGK), Macropus giganteus} in southeastern Australia.
