Synthesis of seleno-toluidine blue

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1974

The genetic toxicology of ortho-toluidine

Mutation Research/Reviews in Genetic Toxicology, 1991
ortho-Toluidine, a monosubstituted aniline and an intermediate in the dyeing industry, with a number of uses in other fields such as rubber processing and pharmaceutical production, has been in production for over 100 years. It is metabolised in vivo into a number of compounds, some of which are active genotoxins.

Subacute toxicity of Toluidine Red

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1968
Abstract Toluidine Red (formerly D & C Red No. 35) was fed to groups of 10 Osborne-Mendel rats for 90 days at dietary levels of 0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 1.0, and 2.0%. No effect was observed on mortality, growth, or hematology. In females the liver to body weight ratios were increased at the 1.0% feeding level and in males at the 0.25, 0.50, and 2.0% levels.

Electrochemical behavior of the toluidines in aqueous solutions

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1974
Summary The electrochemical oxidation of p -toluidine was investigated at platinum and carbon paste electrodes with periodic renewal of the diffusion layer, and at carbon paste electrodes with cyclic voltammetry in the pH range 0.7–12. It is pointed out that p -toluidine gives rise to two oxidation waves in the pH range 3.0–6.5.

Crystallography of toluidine red

Journal of Applied Crystallography, 1971
X-ray diffraction analysis has been a very useful tool in the paint industry for the identification of pigments and extenders in a paint system (Scott, 1969), especially when complemented with infrared spectroscopic methods (McClure,Thomson & Tannahill, 1968). A pigment which can be characterized by both techniques is toluidine red, an azo pigment made
