Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia Toluidine Blue Subtype

Leukemia & Lymphoma, 1995
In the hypergranular group of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) a rare subvariant with basophilic granules, metachromatic for toluidine blue, is recognizable. To evaluate the incidence as well as the biological and clinical significance of this subtype, we studied 53 consecutive untreated patients with APL with morphological, cytochemical ...

TOLUIDINE BLUE IN BLEEDING ASSOCIATED WITH THROMBOPENIA

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1949
The use of toluidine blue or protamine as an aid in controlling the general tendency to bleed in thrombocytopenia has been suggested by Allen and his co-workers. 1 An anticoagulant, indistinguishable from heparin, was found in the blood of dogs that had hemorrhagic tendencies after prolonged exposure to roentgen rays.

Toluidine blue staining of cartilage proteoglycan subunits

Acta Histochemica, 1978
Selective binding of toluidine blue to basophilic proteoglycans is the first stage of a staining method which proceeds to the formation of a heavy metal salt of the dyestuff. By means of this procedure matrix complexes of hyalin cartilage were stained such as to display granular subunits about 25 to 35 A in diameter. The findings are interpreted as the

Improving the Staining Qualities of Toluidin Blue

Stain Technology, 1958
To a 1.0% filtered aqueous solution of toluidin blue add drop by drop 4–5 ml of either a saturated aqueous solution of HgCl2 or of KI. Collect the resulting dark precipitate on a filter paper and wash it with numerous small quantities of distilled water applied to both inside and outside of the filter paper. Wash until the drippings are distinctly blue

Rapid Toluidine Blue Stain for Mohsʼ Micrographic Surgery

Dermatologic Surgery, 2005
Toluidine blue is a useful stain for detecting basal cell carcinoma during Mohs' micrographic surgery. To demonstrate the efficacy of alkalinization on the toluidine blue stain.A 1% aqueous toluidine blue-1% aqueous sodium borate solution was used to stain microscope slides for basal cell carcinoma during Mohs' micrographic surgery.Total toluidine blue ...

Toluidine Blue Staining As A Malignancy Test

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1973
In order to get a reliable material at the cytological sampling or at the biopsy the Toluidine blue test has been designed. The method is based upon the fact that cancer cells contain quantitatively more DNA and RNA to which nucleid acids the Toluidine blue has an affinity.

[Toluidine blue and gastric cancer].

G.E.N, 1978
The authors used Toluidine Blue to stain gastric lesions in nine patients. Six cases were found with adenocarcinoma that stained an intense blue that was limited to the extension of the malignancy itself. The other three cases did not stain and their histological diagnosis had been benign chronic gastric ulcers.
