First Report of Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus in Tomato in South Georgia

open access: yesPlant Disease, 1999
In October 1998, symptoms characteristic of tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) were observed on fresh market tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) in four production fields, two in Decatur County, Georgia, and two in Gadsden County, Florida. Symptoms observed were plant stunting, reduced leaf size, yellow leaf margins, and mottling.

Is the assistance of satellite by TYLCV strictly cell autonomous? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Begomoviruses are circular single stranded DNA (css) plant viruses with bipartite (A and B) or monopartite (A-like component) genomes. They are sometimes associated with satellites, cssDNA molecules, namely alphasatellites and betasatellites.

A sensitive method to quantify replicative forms of circular DNA viruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Although real-time PCR diagnostic protocols for detection of geminivirusesare available, none of them are able to discriminate between the two strands generated during an infection: the viral strand (VS) that is encapsidated within virions; and the ...

Enhanced Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Thailand Virus Suppression Through Multi-Disease and Insect-Resistant Tomato Lines Combining Virus and Vector Resistance

open access: yesInsects
Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is an essential vegetable crop cultivated worldwide, but its production is highly vulnerable to tomato yellow leaf curl disease (TYLCD), which is transmitted by whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci).

Screening 27 Genotypes of Eggplant (Solanum melongena) for Resistance to Three Species of Begomovirus

open access: yesCaraka Tani: Journal of Sustainable Agriculture
Three primary species of Begomovirus, Tomato yellow leaf curl Kanchanaburi virus (TYLCKaV), Pepper yellow leaf curl Indonesia virus (PepYLCIV), and Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV), have significantly impacted eggplant production in Indonesia ...

Salicylic acid collaborates with gene silencing to tomato defense against tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Antiviral research in plants has been focused on RNA silencing (i.e. RNA interference), and several studies suggest that salicylic acid (SA)-mediated resistance is a key part of plant antiviral defense.

Transcriptional reprogramming caused by the geminivirus Tomato yellow leaf curl virus in local or systemic infections in Nicotiana benthamiana

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2019
Viruses have evolved to create a cellular environment permissive for viral replication in susceptible hosts. Possibly both enabling and resulting from these virus-triggered changes, infected hosts undergo a dramatic transcriptional reprogramming, the ...

First Report of Tomato yellow leaf curl virus in Louisiana

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2001
Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is a begomovirus (Geminiviridae) that causes a serious disease of tomato throughout the world. In 1997, the strain from Israel of TYLCV (TYLCV-IS) was found infecting tomatoes in Florida for the first time in the United States (1).

Evaluation under diverse conditions of a differential host reaction scale to Tomato yellow leaf curl virus in tomato

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2017
Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is the most widespread virus species causing Tomato yellow leaf curl disease. Accurate methods for assessment of resistance are requisite in breeding programs.

Evaluation of resistance to tomato curly stunt virus in tomato [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Solanum lycopersicon (the cultivated tomato) is a commodity of great economic importance in South Africa (SA) as well as worldwide. A destructive viral disease known as Tomato curly stunt virus, ToCSV-[ZA:Ond:98], belonging to the genus Begomovirus has
