A joint reconstruction and lambda tomography regularization technique for energy-resolved X-ray imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Here we present new joint reconstruction and regularization techniques inspired by ideas in microlocal analysis and lambda tomography, for the simultaneous reconstruction of the attenuation coefficient and electron density from X-ray transmission (i.e., X-ray CT) and backscattered data (assumed to be primarily Compton scattered).

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

MicroCT reveals domesticated rice (Oryza sativa) within pottery sherds from early Neolithic sites (4150–3265 cal BP) in Southeast Asia

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Rice (Oryza sativa) was domesticated in the Yangtze Valley region at least 6000–8000 years ago, yet the timing of dispersal of domesticated rice to Southeast Asia is contentious.

Unique continuation of the normal operator of the X-ray transform and applications in geophysics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We show that the normal operator of the X-ray transform in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\geq 2$, has a unique continuation property in the class of compactly supported distributions. This immediately implies uniqueness for the X-ray tomography problem with partial data and generalizes some earlier results to higher dimensions.

Visualization of self-healing materials by X-ray computed micro-tomography at UGCT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This work presents recent advancements in X-ray micro-computed tomography (XRMCT) of self-healing materials at Ghent University’s Centre for X-ray Tomography (UGCT).

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Investigation of the Uniformity of Gel Shrinkage by Imaging Tracer Particles Using X‐Ray Microtomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

Two-view topogram-based anatomy-guided CT reconstruction for prospective risk minimization

open access: yesScientific Reports
To facilitate a prospective estimation of the effective dose of an CT scan prior to the actual scanning in order to use sophisticated patient risk minimizing methods, a prospective spatial dose estimation and the known anatomical structures are required.
