Advanced Surface Ablation in Mild (Fruste) Keratoconus: A Case Report
Corneal ectasia is a complication of refractive surgery, and keratoconus is a contraindication to this type of procedure. Surface ablation may be an option for selected cases of mild keratoconus, with patient education being fundamental to this treatment

State estimation: direct state measurement vs. tomography
We compare direct state measurement (DST or weak state tomography) to conventional state reconstruction (tomography) through accurate Monte-Carlo simulations. We show that DST is surprisingly robust to its inherent bias.

Joint inversion of muon tomography and gravimetry - a resolving kernel approach [PDF]
Both muon tomography and gravimetry are geophysical methods that provide information on the density structure of the Earth's subsurface. Muon tomography measures the natural flux of cosmic muons and its attenuation produced by the screening effect of the

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

A mathematical model and inversion procedure for Magneto-Acousto-Electric Tomography (MAET)
Magneto-Acousto-Electric Tomography (MAET), also known as the Lorentz force or Hall effect tomography, is a novel hybrid modality designed to be a high-resolution alternative to the unstable Electrical Impedance Tomography.

Acousto-electrical speckle pattern in Lorentz force electrical impedance tomography [PDF]
Ultrasound speckle is a granular texture pattern appearing in ultrasound imaging. It can be used to distinguish tissues and identify pathologies. Lorentz force electrical impedance tomography is an ultrasound-based medical imaging technique of the tissue

SummaryIn array tomography ordered, ribbon‐like assemblies of ultrathin serial sections are deposited on a solid substrate and imaged afterwards. The resulting images are then aligned and reconstructed into a three‐dimensional representation of the object.

We propose a tomographic reconstruction scheme for spin states. The experimental setup, which is a modification of the Stern-Gerlach scheme, can be easily performed with currently available technology. The method is generalized to multi-particle states, analyzing the spin 1/2 case for indistinguishable particles.

AbstractFermi surfaces are essential for predicting, characterizing and controlling the properties of crystalline metals and semiconductors. Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) is the only technique directly probing the Fermi surface by measuring the Fermi momenta (kF) from energy- and angular distribution of photoelectrons dislodged by ...
