An Adaptive Global and Local Tone Mapping Algorithm Implemented on FPGA

IEEE transactions on circuits and systems for video technology (Print), 2020
We present a fast global and locally adaptive tone mapping algorithm and its field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation. The specially designed tone mapping function, which is based on local histogram equalization, controls global, and local ...

Learning-Based Low-Complexity Reverse Tone Mapping With Linear Mapping

IEEE transactions on circuits and systems for video technology (Print), 2020
Although high dynamic range (HDR) display has become popular recently, the legacy content such as standard dynamic range (SDR) video is still in service and needs to be properly converted on HDR display devices. Therefore, it is desirable for HDR TV sets

Deep binocular tone mapping

The Visual Computer, 2019
Binocular tone mapping is studied in the previous works to generate a fusible pair of LDR images in order to convey more visual content than one single LDR image. However, the existing methods are all based on monocular tone mapping operators. It greatly restricts the preservation of local details and global contrast in a binocular LDR pair.

Matching by Monotonic Tone Mapping

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2018
In this paper, a novel dissimilarity measure called Matching by Monotonic Tone Mapping (MMTM) is proposed. The MMTM technique allows matching under non-linear monotonic tone mappings and can be computed efficiently when the tone mappings are approximated by piecewise constant or piecewise linear functions.

Adversarial and Adaptive Tone Mapping Operator for High Dynamic Range Images

IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence, 2020
This work addresses tone mapping, a common approach to convert high dynamic range (HDR) images into low dynamic range (LDR) images. We approach this problem by using adaptive tone mapping.

A Hybrid l1-l0 Layer Decomposition Model for Tone Mapping

2018 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2018
Tone mapping aims to reproduce a standard dynamic range image from a high dynamic range image with visual information preserved. State-of-the-art tone mapping algorithms mostly decompose an image into a base layer and a detail layer, and process them ...

Mantissa-Exponent-Based Tone Mapping for Wide Dynamic Range Image Sensors

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems - II - Express Briefs, 2020
The dynamic range of a scene is defined as the ratio between the maximum and minimum luminance in it. Wide dynamic range (WDR) means this ratio is so large that it exceeds the dynamic range of a traditional image sensor.

High dynamic range image tone mapping by optimizing tone mapped image quality index

2014 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME), 2014
An active research topic in recent years is to design tone mapping operators (TMOs) that convert high dynamic range (H-DR) to low dynamic range (LDR) images, so that HDR images can be visualized on standard displays. Nevertheless, most existing work has been done in the absence of a well-established and subject-validated image quality assessment (IQA ...

A novel tone mapping algorithm

2019 IEEE 8th Joint International Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Conference (ITAIC), 2019
Based on the problems of gradient reversal, halo, color cast, etc. in the traditional high dynamic range (HDR) image tone mapping algorithm, this paper proposes a new algorithm based on the iCAM06 algorithm, which introduces the guided filter based on the box filter, adjusts the color adaptive transformation matrix and the HPE primitive.

Gaze-Dependent Tone Mapping

2013
In this paper we model the process of temporal adaptation of the human visual system to varying luminance conditions. An eye tracker is used to capture the location of an observer’s gaze in a high dynamic range image displayed on the screen. We apply a novel technique of eye tracker data filtering to avoid flickering caused by incorrect gaze estimation.
