Pupillometry Reveals the Role of Arousal in a Postexercise Benefit to Executive Function
A single bout of aerobic exercise improves executive function; however, the mechanism(s) underlying this improvement remains unclear. Here, we employed a 20-min bout of aerobic exercise, and at pre- and immediate post-exercise sessions examined executive

Hypothesis 1 tonic pupil diameter.
Mean tonic pupil diameter (in mm) as a function of pathologists’ difficulty rating of each image. Boxplot represents data median (horizontal line), quartiles (shaded), minimum and maximum (error bars), and outliers (dots: 1.5 times the interquartile ...

Cognitive and Ocular Factors Jointly Determine Pupil Responses under Equiluminance.
Changes in pupil diameter can reflect high-level cognitive signals that depend on central neuromodulatory mechanisms. However, brain mechanisms that adjust pupil size are also exquisitely sensitive to changes in luminance and other events that would be ...

Hypothesis 2 tonic pupil diameter.
Mean tonic pupil diameter (in mm) as a function of zoom level. Boxplot represents data median (horizontal line), quartiles (shaded), minimum and maximum (error bars), and outliers (dots: 1.5 times the interquartile range).

Morphometric study of the ciliary ganglion and its pertinent intraorbital procedure
BACKGROUND: Ciliary ganglion (CG) can be easily injured without notice in many intraorbital procedures. Surgical procedures approaching the lateral side of the orbit are at risk of CG injury which results in transient mydriasis and tonic pupil.

Monitoring Cognitive and Emotional Processes Through Pupil and Cardiac Response During Dynamic Versus Logical Task [PDF]
The paper deals with the links between physiological measurements and cognitive and emotional functioning. As long as the operator is a key agent in charge of complex systems, the definition of metrics able to predict his performance is a great challenge.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
