Pupil Diameter Tracks Lapses of Attention. [PDF]
Our ability to sustain attention for prolonged periods of time is limited. Studies on the relationship between lapses of attention and psychophysiological markers of attentional state, such as pupil diameter, have yielded contradicting results.

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Transient pupil responses are differentially sensitive to tonic pupil size.
Events of each type were characterised based on above-median or below-median tonic pupil size. Data were averaged across 4 conditions for auditory, blink and saccade panels a,b,c. The response amplitude and shape of auditory responses changes drastically
