From Mechanics to Electronics: Influence of ALD Interlayers on the Multiaxial Electro‐Mechanical Behavior of Metal–Oxide Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin AlOxHy interlayers between aluminum films and polymer substrates significantly improve electro‐mechanical properties of flexible thin film systems. By precisely controlling interlayer thickness using atomic layer deposition, this study identifies an optimal interlayer thickness of 5–10 nm that enhances ductility and delays cracking.

Real Exchange Rate, Monetary Policy and Employment [PDF]

open access: yes
The exchange rate affects the economy through many channels and, consequently, has diverse macroeconomic and development impacts. Five are analysed in this paper: resource allocation, economic development, finance, external balance and inflation. The use

Geometric Allocation Approaches in Markov Chain Monte Carlo

open access: yes, 2013
The Markov chain Monte Carlo method is a versatile tool in statistical physics to evaluate multi-dimensional integrals numerically. For the method to work effectively, we must consider the following key issues: the choice of ensemble, the selection of ...

Self‐Powered Permeable Electronic Dressing for Exudate Management, Electrostimulation and Drug Delivery in Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a self‐powered permeable electronic dressing (SPED) that synergistically integrates exudate management, electrical stimulation, and on‐demand drug delivery. The dressing effectively absorbs exudate while demonstrating potent antibacterial activity and accelerated tissue regeneration in diabetic mouse models, thereby promoting ...

From Bug to Feature: Harnessing Cross‐Sensitivity for Multiparametric Luminescence Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cross‐sensitivity in luminescence sensing is reframed from a limitation into a resource for multiparametric detection. Using ruby microspheres as a model system, cross‐sensitivity is quantitatively assessed and exploited through linear discriminant analysis, enabling simultaneous, correction‐free pressure and temperature sensing with a single ...

3D‐Printed Titanium Implants with Bioactive Peptide‐Polysaccharide Scaffolds for Personalized Bone Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Porous 3D‐printed titanium implants are made bioactive by integration with a supramolecular peptide‐hyaluronic acid nanofibrillar scaffold, without the addition of exogenous cells or growth factors. Uniform filling of the implant architecture promotes vascularized, spatially homogeneous bone regeneration, significantly enhancing osteogenesis throughout

Conflicts and resolutions in managing water allocation at the watershed scale

open access: yesDie Bodenkultur, 2019
Multiple runs of a river basin model produced information about water allocation under different users’ priorities, creating a set of allocation scenarios as possible decision alternatives.

PiP‐Plex: A Particle‐in‐Particle System for Multiplexed Quantification of Proteins Secreted by Single Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Detecting proteins secreted by a single cell while retaining its viability remains challenging. A particles‐in‐particle (PiPs) system made by co‐encapsulating barcoded microparticles (BMPs) with a single cell inside an alginate hydrogel particle is introduced.

Property Rights for the Poor: Effects of Land Titling [PDF]

open access: yes
Secure property rights are considered a key determinant of economic development. The evaluation of the causal effects of property rights, however, is a difficult task as their allocation is typically endogenous.
