PIMPA: A Tool for oPtImal Measurement Probes Allocation

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2014
The magnetic diagnostic system plays a crucial role in a Tokamak reactor and, more generally, in any magnetically confined fusion device. Indeed, all the essential quantities for plasma control are computed by a number of processing nodes, starting from the magnetic fluxes and fields acquired by this diagnostic system.

ETFs — Tactical Asset Allocation Tools

2005
ETFs combine the advantages of both index funds and stocks. They are liquid, easy to use and can be traded in any quantity, just like stocks. At the same time an ETF provides the diversification, market tracking and low expense of an index fund. These characteristics combine to create an investment tool that provides investors with the broad exposure ...

Research Environment for Data Analysis Tool Allocators

Applied Intelligence, 1999
Intelligent data analysis implies the reasoned application of autonomous or semi-autonomous tools to data sets drawn from problem domains. Automation of this process of reasoning about analysis (based on factors such as available computational resources, cost of analysis, risk of failure, lessons learned from past errors, and tentative structural ...

A 3D visualization tool for landmark allocation

Proceedings of the First Joint BMES/EMBS Conference. 1999 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology 21st Annual Conference and the 1999 Annual Fall Meeting of the Biomedical Engineering Society (Cat. No.99CH37015), 2003
Current CAD/CAM software in prosthesis design is based on various landmark positions on a residual limb, such as, weight bearing areas: patellar notch, medial and lateral flares of tibia and pressure relief areas: fibular head, distal tibia and fibular.

Tool wear estimation using resource allocation network

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2001
This paper presents tool wear estimation in face milling operations using the resource allocation network (RAN). Acoustic emission (AE) signals, surface roughness parameters and cutting conditions (cutting speed, feed) have been used to formulate input patterns.

Two Simulation Tools for Testing ATM Resource Allocation Strategies

SIMULATION, 1997
Two event-driven simulation tools aimed at testing access control and routing mechanisms in an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) environment are presented. The first one is dedicated to the behavioural description of an ATM Virtual Circuit (VC) switch.

Tool Machine Allocation Problem in a Cellular Manufacturing System

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1997
Abstract In this paper the tool allocation problem of a flexible manufacturing system is discussed. Two algorithms are developed and compared with one another in the presence of the “part move” strategy which moves the item to the workstation having the necessary tooling. The tools can not be shared between the machines.

An improved model for the oPtImal Measurement Probes Allocation tool

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2015
Abstract The oPtImal Measurement Probes Allocation (PIMPA) tool has been recently proposed in [1] to maximize the reliability of a tokamak diagnostic system against the failure of one or more of the processing nodes. PIMPA is based on the solution of integer linear programming (ILP) problems, and it minimizes the effect of the failure of a data ...

Risk assessment as a liability allocation tool

Environmental Claims Journal, 1996
The recent Mean and Bell Petroleum decisions permit PRPs to limit their liability at Superfund sites by demonstrating their contribution to the harm done. We outline a three‐step process to make this demonstration: (1) identification of distinct harms caused by different PRPs; (2) determination of t he weight to be given to nonrisk factors versus risk ...
