Rapid Microwave Plasma Engineering of HfO2/C@C Core‐Shell Fibrous Membrane Toward Flexible High‐Performance Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid microwave plasma torch engineering tunes crystal phases, carbon graphitization and oxygen‐vacancy defects in HfO2/C@C core‐shell fibrous membranes. Synergistic multi‐loss effects optimize impedance matching to deliver −65.75 dB reflection loss and a 7.37 GHz effective bandwidth for flexible electromagnetic wave absorption.

Architecture‐Driven Functional Coupling in Vertically Aligned Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vertically aligned nanocomposites define a growth‐engineered architecture in which vertical interfaces, strain fields, defect pathways, and phase connectivity are created simultaneously. This review shows how these architectural features couple ferroic, optical, ionic, electrochemical, and device responses, establishing design rules and open challenges

Tool Wear and Material Removal Predictions in Micro-EDM Drilling: Advantages of Data-Driven Approaches

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In micro electrical discharge drilling, regression models are commonly used for predicting the material removal rate (MRR) and tool wear rate (TWR) from the applied processing parameters.

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Hopping‐Mediated Zero‐Bias Photocharge Retention in Solution‐Processed Van Der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid–liquid interface assembly enables the fabrication of solution‐processed MoS2 and WSe2 centimeter‐scale, nanometer‐thick type‐II heterostructures on paper. Interfacial charge separation and hopping‐limited recombination produce rectification and persistent photocharge retention at zero bias.

Multi-Physics Monotone Score Transport for Unsupervised Domain Adaptation of Continuous Tool Wear Prediction

open access: yesSensors
Cross-material continuous tool wear prediction is difficult because a model must preserve the physical wear scale, not only align high-dimensional sensor features.

Research on tool wear prediction based on Archard agglomeration scavenging theory

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
Nickel-based superalloy Inconel 718 has been widely used in the modern aviation field, however, its cutting performance is poor. This performance not only affects the effectiveness of the use of the tool but also reduces the efficiency of production.

Analytical Prediction of Cutting Tool Wear by Analysis of Wear Models

open access: yesHungarian Journal of Industry and Chemistry
The management of cutting tool wear and tool life is a long-standing topic in machining research and practice. Although a wide range of analytical and data-driven wear models has been proposed, their direct applicability in defining a robust tool life criterion and for practical tool life prediction remains limited.

Prediction of Thread Rolling Tools Wear Resistance

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2017
Abstract This article describes a method developed to predict the wear resistance of thread rolling tools, which is based on the assumptions of the energy theory of wear applicable to solids. Through experiments, the authors defined the energy intensity of wear for the 30CrNiMo8 steel at room temperature and at 400°C and 800°C.
