Tooth loss and risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke: A dose-response meta analysis of prospective cohort studies

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Conflicting results identifying the association between tooth loss and cardiovascular disease and stroke have been reported. Therefore, a dose-response meta-analysis was performed to clarify and quantitatively assess the correlation between tooth loss ...

Rethinking Power Solutions for Healthcare Wearables: From Point‐of‐Care and Episodic use to Continuous Monitoring and Therapeutic Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective examines practical power solutions for wearable healthcare systems, highlighting the limits of standard batteries. It categorizes wearables into four domains—point‐of‐care diagnostics, episodic monitoring, continuous long‐term monitoring, and therapeutic platforms—and analyzes their power needs.

Smart Denture with Embedded Thin‐Film Temperature Sensors Patterned by Femtosecond Laser Pulse for Elderly Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
We demonstrate the direct‐laser patterning of a gold thin film on polymethyl methacrylate to fabricate a temperature sensor for dentures. The temperature sensor‐embedded smart dentures are evaluated in an oral environment, enabling in‐situ monitoring for elderly healthcare.

AI‐Driven Predictive Design and Functionalization of Three Dimensional‐Printed PEEK Implants with Tryptophan‐Enriched Alginate Hydrogel for Enhanced Biomimetic Surface Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces an AI‐guided strategy to design 3D‐printed PEEK implants functionalized with a tryptophan‐enriched alginate hydrogel (TRYALPEEK). The modification improves hydrophilicity, reduces surface roughness, enhances cytocompatibility, and optimizes stress distribution. The platform offers a promising route for personalized implant design,

Nance‐Horan Syndrome: Further Delineation of the Affected Male and the Female Carrier Phenotypes

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nance‐Horan syndrome (NHS; OMIM 302350) is a rare, X‐linked syndrome characterized by bilateral congenital cataracts leading to profound vision loss, specific dental anomalies including characteristic screwdriver blade‐shaped incisors, facial anomalies, and intellectual disability.

Genotypes and Phenotypes of Patients With TSPEAR‐Related Disorder: Evidence of a Predominant Dental Phenotype

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT TSPEAR (chr. 21q22.3) encodes a protein involved in tooth development and is predominantly expressed in the enamel knot. Biallelic loss of function variants in TSPEAR cause ectodermal dysplasia, tooth agenesis and sensorineural hearing loss. However, the role of TSPEAR in auditory processes is unclear.
