Diatom‐Inspired 1D Immobile Robots Capable of 2D Collective Mobility
This study presents a diatom‐inspired robotic system that explores group coordination through limited physical interactions. The researchers tune groups of Barbots, simple robotic agents that possess neither individual mobility nor explicit communication capabilities, to achieve complex and adaptive collaboration based on environmental light.

Monoallelic POLR3A Variants Cause Early‐Onset Peripheral Neuropathy
Objective Biallelic variants in genes encoding the RNA polymerase III complex (Pol III) cause a spectrum of neurological disorders primarily affecting the central nervous system. Monoallelic variants have been reported in the POLR3B subunit only, associated with neurodevelopmental disorder, epilepsy, and peripheral neuropathy.

Meshing characteristics of variable hyperbolic circular-arc tooth trace cylindrical gears with cutter errors [PDF]
We investigate the relationship between cutter errors and meshing characteristics of the variable hyperbolic circular-arc tooth trace (VH-CATT) cylindrical gears. Firstly, based on the tooth surface forming principle, the tooth surface mathematical model

Functional morphology of the pharyngeal teeth of the ocean sunfish, Mola mola
Abstract Many fish use a set of pharyngeal jaws in their throat to aid in prey capture and processing, particularly of large or complex prey. In this study—combining dissection, CT scanning, histology, and performance testing—we demonstrate a novel use of pharyngeal teeth in the ocean sunfish (Mola mola), a species for which pharyngeal jaw anatomy had ...

Abstract Dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA) is widely applied for inferring diet in vertebrates. Besides diet and ingesta properties, factors like wear stage and bite force may affect microwear formation, potentially leading to tooth position‐specific microwear patterns.

The Tooth Contact Analysis of a Heavy-load Planetary Gearing [PDF]
Keywords: Planetary gearing; Tooth contact analysis; Modal analysis; ANSYS Abstract. This paper presents a method for analyzing the tooth contact situations of a heavy-load planetary gearing based on Ansys Workbench. Firstly, a 3D finite element model of the whole gearing is established with 10 node tetrahedron elements.
