Numerical approach to the top coal caving process under different coal seam thicknesses
Numerical study of mining-induced stress evolution of coal during the top coal caving process under different coal seam thicknesses is carried out, and the numerical prediction agrees well with the field test data. Main characters on stress distribution and dangerous area are elucidated.

An extension of analytical methods for building damage evaluation in subsidence regions to anisotropic beams [PDF]
Ore and mineral extraction by underground mining often causes ground subsidence phenomena, and may induce severe damage to buildings. Analytical methods based on the Timoshenko beam theory is widely used to assess building damage in subsidence regions ...

Strata behavior in longwall mining at greater depths [PDF]
This thesis presents the overview of problems of underground coal mining at greater depth and reserve position of coal in India. Various strata control issues relate to stress distribution around the longwall panels at depths approaching 900m in ...

Longwall Top Coal Caving Mechanism and Cavability Assessment
Longwall Top Coal Caving (LTCC) is considered one of the most efficient methods for mining thick coal seams. Compared to other thick seam mining methods, LTCC can offer significantly reduced operational costs, high production and resource recovery rates, and improve mine safety.

Investigation on Fires in Coal Mines and Approach for Prevention – Case Study [PDF]
Coal absorbs oxygen even at lower temperatures than the ambient temperature and they start heating up. This heating without any external source of supply of heat generally leads to due to auto-oxidation, also called spontaneous heating of coal.Due to ...

Application of Fuzzy and RBF Neural Networks in the Prediction of Distribution of Coal Seams [PDF]
A prediction approach through fuzzy logic and RBF neural networks were proposed to determine the distribution of coal seam terrains. A triangular fuzzy set was selected as the fuzzification basis for this work.
