Topography Driven Spreading [PDF]
Roughening a hydrophobic surface enhances its nonwetting properties into superhydrophobicity. For liquids other than water, roughness can induce a complete rollup of a droplet. However, topographic effects can also enhance partial wetting by a given liquid into complete wetting to create superwetting.

Wettability influences cell behavior on superhydrophobic surfaces with different topographies [PDF]
Surface wettability and topography are recognized as critical factors influencing cell behavior on biomaterials. So far only few works have reported cell responses on surfaces exhibiting extreme wettability in combination with surface topography.

The new CNES-CLS18 Global Mean Dynamic Topography
. The Mean Dynamic Topography (MDT) is a key reference surface for altimetry. It is needed for the calculation of the ocean absolute dynamic topography, and under the geostrophic approximation, the estimation of surface currents.

GEOSPATIAL MONITORING OF ENGINEERING STRUCTURES AS A PART OF BIM [PDF]
Among the various civil engineering tasks, geospatial monitoring of engineering structures takes an essential place. In the digital era, the concept of geospatial monitoring needs a total re-definition.

Ensemble Learning for Blending Gridded Satellite and Gauge-Measured Precipitation Data
Regression algorithms are regularly used for improving the accuracy of satellite precipitation products. In this context, satellite precipitation and topography data are the predictor variables, and gauged-measured precipitation data are the dependent ...

Molecular topography of an entire nervous system
Nervous systems are constructed from a deep repertoire of neuron types but the underlying gene expression programs that specify individual neuron identities are poorly understood. To address this deficit, we have produced an expression profile of all 302

Reconnecting a Fragmented Monument through Digital Mapping: The City Walls of Athens
The fortifications of Athens have been a recurrent theme of archaeological investigation. In the past two centuries, parts of the walls have been located during rescue interventions at numerous sites in the urban fabric. At present, the visibility of the

Corneal topography with an aberrometry-topography system [PDF]
To investigate the agreement between the central corneal radii and corneal eccentricity measurements generated by the new Wave Analyzer 700 Medica (WAV) compared to the Keratograph 4 (KER) and to test the repeatability of the instruments.20 subjects (10 male, mean age 29.1 years, range 21-50 years) were recruited from the students and staff of the ...

Statistical mechanics of Fofonoff flows in an oceanic basin [PDF]
We study the minimization of potential enstrophy at fixed circulation and energy in an oceanic basin with arbitrary topography. For illustration, we consider a rectangular basin and a linear topography h=by which represents either a real bottom ...
