Toric Vaisman Manifolds

open access: yesJournal of Geometry and Physics, 2016
Vaisman manifolds are strongly related to K\"ahler and Sasaki geometry. In this paper we introduce toric Vaisman structures and show that this relationship still holds in the toric context.

Toric Regulators

open access: yes, 2021
Let $X$ be a variety defined over a local field $K$ of mixed characteristic $(0,p)$ with a totally degenerate reduction in the sense of Raskind and Xarles. Generalizing earlier work of Raskind and Xarles and relying on some conjectures we define a map, which we call the toric regulator, from the various motivic cohomology groups of $X$ to certain $p ...

Toric border basis [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 39th International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation, 2014
We extend the theory and the algorithms of Border Bases to systems of Laurent polynomial equations, defining "toric" roots. Instead of introducing new variables and new relations to saturate by the variable inverses, we propose a more efficient approach which works directly with the variables and their inverse.

Toric Genera

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices, 2010
Our primary aim is to develop a theory of equivariant genera for stably complex manifolds equipped with compatible actions of a torus T^k. In the case of omnioriented quasitoric manifolds, we present computations that depend only on their defining combinatorial data; these draw inspiration from analogous calculations in toric geometry, which seek to ...

Toric and Non-toric Bayesian Networks

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Algebra and Geometry, 2023
In this paper we study Bayesian networks from a commutative algebra perspective. We characterize a class of toric Bayesian nets, and provide the first example of a Bayesian net which is proved non-toric under any linear change of variables. Concerning the class of toric Bayesian nets, we study their quadratic relations and prove a conjecture by Garcia,

Toric promotion

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2022
This article introduces toric promotion as a cyclic analogue of Schützenberger’s promotion operator. Toric promotion acts on the set of labelings of a graph G G . We discuss connections between toric promotion and previously-studied notions such as toric posets and friends-and-strangers graphs.

Toric Sarkisov Links of Toric Fano Varieties

open access: yes, 2023
We explain a web of Sarkisov links that overlies the classification of Fano weighted projective spaces in dimensions 3 and 4, extending results of Prokhorov.
