Driving Innovation: The Impact of National Health Policies on Optometry Research in East Asia
ABSTRACT This study examines the optometric research landscape in three East Asian countries—China, Japan, and Korea—analysing how research trends align with each country's national health strategies. By evaluating published articles and reviews from national journals between 2006 March 2025, we identify key areas of focus, including paediatric ...

Clinical relevance The dynamic changes in astigmatic axis in school‐age children with development guide optometrists in accurate axis determination and regular follow‐up, improving correction efficacy and preventing asthenopia and amblyopia. Purpose This study performs model predictions and investigates the patterns of change in the axis of astigmatism,

Purpose To assess and compare visual quality and subjective outcomes of the toric and nontoric versions of a trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) combining a diffractive extended depth of focus (EDoF) profile with a diffractive multifocal pattern. Methods This prospective cohort study included patients bilaterally implanted with the TECNIS Synergy or TECNIS

A Direct Method for Determining Toricity Ratios of Toric Intraocular Lens Calculators
AbstractThis study develops a method to determine toricity ratios used by arbitrary toric intraocular lens calculators. Access to this information allows for the improvement of refractive results. We derive the Sayegh-Gabra formula, which uses input and output parameters in a toric calculator to extract toricity ratios that are typically not disclosed.

Purpose To evaluate the changes in tilt and decentration prior to and following microincision vitrectomy and femtosecond laser‐assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) using a 7 mm intraocular lens (IOL). Methods Patients were grouped by surgical method: conventional phacoemulsification surgery and vitrectomy without gas (Group A: 27 eyes), conventional ...

Surgical technique for management of isolated lenticular coloboma with high corneal astigmatism
We describe a surgical technique for the correction of isolated congenital lenticular coloboma associated with high corneal astigmatism. Transscleral fixation of the capsular bag with a single eyelet Cionni capsular tension ring was followed by in-the ...

Objective analysis of toric intraocular lens rotation and centration [PDF]
To assess the repeatability of an objective image-analysis technique to determine intraocular lens (IOL) rotation and centration.Six European ophthalmology clinics.Eyes with an Akreos AO aspheric IOL with orientation marks were imaged. A masked observer rated image quality.
