A Direct Method for Determining Toricity Ratios of Toric Intraocular Lens Calculators

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
AbstractThis study develops a method to determine toricity ratios used by arbitrary toric intraocular lens calculators. Access to this information allows for the improvement of refractive results. We derive the Sayegh-Gabra formula, which uses input and output parameters in a toric calculator to extract toricity ratios that are typically not disclosed.

Evaluation of Scheimpflug imaging system as an added tool in improving the accuracy of reference marking (as compared to the slit lamp marking system) for toric intraocular lens implantation

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2020
Purpose: To assess the role of Scheimpflug imaging in improving the accuracy of reference marking for toric IOL implantation. Methods: In this prospective, randomized, clinical trial all patients with cataract and pre-existing significant regular corneal

Refined Chern-Simons Theory and Topological String [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We show that refined Chern-Simons theory and large N duality can be used to study the refined topological string with and without branes. We derive the refined topological vertex of hep-th/0701156 and hep-th/0502061 from a link invariant of the refined ...

Finite Heisenberg Groups in Quiver Gauge Theories

open access: yes, 2006
We show by direct construction that a large class of quiver gauge theories admits actions of finite Heisenberg groups. We consider various quiver gauge theories that arise as AdS/CFT duals of orbifolds of C^3, the conifold and its orbifolds and some ...

A Three‐Stage Model of the Maturation of Nascent Policy Subsystems Toward Stable Advocacy Coalitions, With Evidence From the UK's Response to COVID‐19

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, Volume 54, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Policy subsystems are comprised of competing advocacy coalitions, in which public and private political actors with shared belief systems learn from each other and coordinate their strategies in the pursuit of influencing policy making in their favor.

Adverse events associated with Implantable Collamer Lens: insights from the FDA MAUDE database

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
PurposeImplantable Collamer Lens (ICL) implantation is rising globally, yet real-world studies on adverse events (AEs) remain scarce. This study analyses ICL-related complications using the MAUDE database.MethodsData on ICL-related AEs were extracted ...

Driving Innovation: The Impact of National Health Policies on Optometry Research in East Asia

open access: yesThe International Journal of Health Planning and Management, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 37-46, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines the optometric research landscape in three East Asian countries—China, Japan, and Korea—analysing how research trends align with each country's national health strategies. By evaluating published articles and reviews from national journals between 2006 March 2025, we identify key areas of focus, including paediatric ...
