Quiver gauge theories: beyond reflexivity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
Reflexive polygons have been extensively studied in a variety of contexts in mathematics and physics. We generalize this programme by looking at the 45 different lattice polygons with two interior points up to SL(2,ℤ) equivalence.

Expanding the Utility of Exome Sequencing in Preventive and Population Genetics

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Carrier screening is a long‐standing genetic testing process offered to at‐risk couples, with or without a family history, who might have pregnancies affected by an autosomal recessive (AR) or X‐linked (XL) disorder. A total of 276 unrelated individuals, initially referred for rare disorder screening by clinicians, were enrolled in this study ...

A criterion for toric varieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
textWe consider the pair of a smooth complex projective variety together with an anti-canonical simple normal crossing divisor (we call it "log Calabi- Yau").

Rational points of lattice ideals on a toric variety and toric codes

open access: yes, 2023
We show that the number of rational points of a subgroup inside a toric variety over a finite field defined by a homogeneous lattice ideal can be computed via Smith normal form of the matrix whose columns constitute a basis of the lattice.

Calabi flow on toric varieties with bounded Sobolev constant, I

open access: yesComplex Manifolds, 2016
Let (X, P) be a toric variety. In this note, we show that the C0-norm of the Calabi flow φ(t) on X is uniformly bounded in [0, T) if the Sobolev constant of φ(t) is uniformly bounded in [0, T).

The 2024 General Election and the Rise of Reform UK

open access: yesThe Political Quarterly, Volume 96, Issue 1, Page 91-101, January/March 2025.
Abstract This article examines the social base of support for Reform UK. Did Nigel Farage's new party depend on the same types of ‘left behind’ voters who had previously backed UKIP? Do the results of the 2024 election suggest a hardening of the social divides that underpinned the rise of UKIP? Or has Britain's Eurosceptic and anti‐immigration movement

Vanishing theorems on toric varieties [PDF]

open access: yesTohoku Mathematical Journal, 2002
We use Cox's description for sheaves on toric varieties and results about the local cohomology with respect to monomial ideals to give a characteristic free approach to vanishing results on arbitrary toric varieties. As an application, we give a proof of a strong form of Fujita's conjecture in the case of toric varieties. We also prove that every sheaf

Derived categories of toric Fano 3-folds via the Frobenius morphism

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 2009
In [8, Conjecture 3.6], Costa and Miró-Roig state the following conjecture:Every smooth complete toric Fano variety has a full strongly exceptional collection of line bundles. The goal of this article is to prove it for toric Fano 3-folds.

Mixed-State Quantum Phases: Renormalization and Quantum Error Correction

open access: yesPhysical Review X
Open system quantum dynamics can generate a variety of long-range entangled mixed states, yet it has been unclear in what sense they constitute phases of matter.
